Britney always has to hit the headlines somehow and now she's got another award to her name but she might not want everyone to know!
Britney and her new award
Britney Spears seems to be in the news every other day right now, usually over her divorce, her resulting weight gain or some other breath-taking incident that puts her back in the spot light but here's a new one. Britney Spears has just been officially declared the World's Worst Celebrity Dog Owner 2006 by two leading pet magazines.
Paris has been knocked off the top spot
In years gone by, the reigning champ has been Paris Hilton who was almost never seen without the Chihuahua, Tinkerbell, adorning her arm but now its time for Britney to step once more into the limelight and take her rightful place.
Apparently, Ms. Spears has been slated for treating her pets as mere accessories which was why Ms. Hilton always got the top spot but, as usual, the “Oops, I Did It Again” diva has gone one better.
Britney and her three Chihuahuas
Britney had three Chihuahuas, lovingly called Lacy, Lucky and Bit-Bit not just one like the 2005 winner and before her ill-fated marriage to Kevin and the arrival of children, was never seen out of the house with at least one of them in tow. Now, however, the dogs have just disappeared from view and this has raised issues with the readership of both The New York Dog and Hollywood Dog magazines. “Britney was the overwhelming choice” for Worst Celebrity dog owner said Hilary O'Hagan, editor of both periodicals, “As soon as she met K. Fed and had kids, they (the dogs) just disappeared.”
The Dogs never liked Kevin
In fact, it has come to light that Lucky took an instant dislike to Kevin and it was either Mr. Federline or the Chihuahua. Unluckily for Britney, however, she chose the wrong one. She once professed that she wanted to be buried with one of her dogs “like the pharaohs used to be buried with things they loved.” But in September, before the split, Kevin said they had given all the dogs away to friends.
Britney, Paris and Serena!
Britney beat off competition from last year's title holder, Paris Hilton and Serena Williams who also polled high. The tennis star gained her place because she denied owning her pit-bull terrier, Bambi, after it bit a security guard in Florida earlier this year.
