What has this world come to with the level of parenting these days? The world would love to know why is Kathy Hilton all of a sudden trying to play the Good Samaritan mom role by telling people they should learn a thing or two on what not to do in terms of her daughter's mistake.
There are reports coming out saying Paris is traumatized about going to jail...how can she be traumatized for 45 days county jail time? It's hard to believe that she's traumatized by this, I can see it if she was going away for a few years, but she got 45 days in the county lock up how can she be traumatized over such a short amount of time? Kathy's whole I-am-a-good-mom-facade was cut short when View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and soon to be mother of two commented that she needed to discipline her daughter instead of allowing the criminal justice system to do it for her.
This is where some parents make the mistake of allowing the law to intervene and discipline their kids. That statement was not only on time, but it was totally necessary since Paris has no idea that she got off easy because most people who did what she did were looking at 2-5 years in prison since driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence is a felony in many places.
45 days is a huge break and she should do the time and learn her lesson. Looking to the Governor to pardon her would be a complete and total disregard for his job since he was elected by the state to adhere and uphold the law if he granted a pardon to someone who clearly just needed to take responsibility for her actions it would be an insult against the legal system that's in place to bring perpetrators to justice to hold them accountable. How do we as a society view this? Because it seems like personal accountability means very little in this world. Ever since Paris Hilton came into the spotlight by just being the "heiress" to the Hilton hotel fortune when she hasn't really done anything extraordinary except further tarnishing her reputation with her scandalous escapades. It really amazes that Paris was even allowed to go this long with her 15 minutes of fame that should have been long over with some time ago.
Paris' mother can't stand up 26 years later talking about how people can learn something from her daughter's mistake when the disciplining should have been enforced when she was a child because when you allow your kids to run wild, the end result is an irresponsible adult who doesn't have much of a concept in the sense that irresponsibility is. If non-celebrity people can be held accountable for their actions so can the rich and famous and just because Paris was born to privilege and wealth doesn't put her above the law or the courts that are enforcing the laws as well. This goes beyond lack of judgment it's about a disregard for the law that's supposed to punish the wrong and justify the right.
Paris spends more time blowing money and looking for publicity wherever she can get it, but it took a court of law to set her priorities straight that you have a famous last name for the world's biggest hotel chain. She is an adult who is being held accountable for the poor choice of driving while intoxicated and then after having her driver's license suspended she continued to drive anyway. This is why the law shouldn't be lenient towards the rich and famous they were common folk before becoming famous, but Paris was a nobody before becoming "famous" and you even wonder why is she making a name for herself doing scandalous things? Is she having fun humiliating her family and making herself look bad in the process?
She's a poor example for the kids who look up to her because someone who does something positive with oneself would conduct their self accordingly, thus meaning Paris would be doing more than just partying and flossing out her expensive cars and handbags, and actually be about something. How many of you wonder what her great grandfather Conrad Sr. and grandfather Conrad Jr. would think of her behaving like this? They wouldn't be too happy to see their money being wastefully squandered down the drain by a granddaughter who has little appreciation for what she's fortunate to have. There are a lot of people who wish they could do what she does and still have a life making a lot of sacrifices along the way.
