Master P is re-launching his P. Miller clothing line, which will be available exclusively at Wal-Mart. Is that really the best way to target the urban wear market?
Master P and his son Romeo, a budding rapper going into his freshman year at USC, announced the launch of their new clothing line, to be found exclusively at Wal-Mart, of all places. The line will undoubtedly include graphic t-shirts, in very large sizes and of unoriginal designs. Master P is the founder of P. Miller Designs, started in 1989 and was meant to be affordable for the masses.
Master P explained the reason for choosing Wal-Mart to sell his cool t-shirts: “Wal-Mart stands for everything P. Miller does. It's America and diversity. Our whole thing is price point. I want to put out affordable clothes where the masses can buy them.”
What Master P should also do is bring back his old graphic t-shirts and sell them over the Internet. He could make a killing selling vintage t-shirts like the 1989 Asphalt Classics “Ballers” jerseys. Those are authentic memorabilia that have real value, unlike cheap t-shirts being sold at Wal-Mart.
There are a few details that he should pay attention to when launching a line of graphic t-shirts. So far, he has not received good coverage for this new line - and he has some stiff competition - especially when it concerns cheap graphic t-shirts for the urban population. His tees will need to be available just was easily and be more original than what has been seen so far by P. Miller. Graphic t-shirts only sell when the wearer feels like they have something original - not tee from Wal-Mart.
