How congress works.

My Mock Congress Reflection

The final outcome of the debate on the Immigration bill was my class completely cut out the fence part of the act in my class. We reduced the number of immigrants that can come to the U.S. and work from 400,000 to 200,000 immigrants. Instead of being here on a three year Visa they will be here on an 18-month Visa, and they will have tow separate accounts one here in America and one in their homeland country. So here they can split up their earnings into two separate accounts to make a saving stash.

They can live off of their earnings while they are in the US and they can have a good push in their home country. I did support the final outcome of the bill but I did not vote on the first part which was “Enforcement and Prevention” part of the original bill the way it was written. It felt good to do the mock congress and it also cleared up a lot of confusion that I had initially had going into the mock congress and voting process. So now it's even more important not only to just go out and vote but knowing the way that each vote is counted and how a vote in general work.

The final outcome of the “Gun Control Act Of 2006” but we made two amendments to this bill.

The twenty handgun per month limit was push down to one per month.

The seventy-two hour background check was pushed up 192 hours which is a whole week.

I did support this bill with the amendments that were made because the state of Georgia just like the state of New York guns are mainly used to commit crimes, but Georgia is also different from New York because they also have a lot of the sport hunting going on in their state during different seasons. Again it felt good because of the importance of knowing how your vote and what you are voting for. Also the amendments that were made are also in my opinion ultimately life changing amendments.

In my opinion the majority would have voted for this bill the way that the bill was originally written because each state operates differently and that right there creates controversy. I would agree because of the fact because Georgia and New York have a lot of similarities and some issues are common issues between states, the mock congress has intensified my view because it was a real eye-opening experience and, a very scary reality in which I think people really don't realize at all.

In my opinion in a case like this representative Democracy works to produce fair results because your basically have to take into account what issues are common between states and which issues are different in each individual state. To answer that question is yes and no because it really depends on what the issues is being voted on because some states laws maybe strong while others maybe weak depending on the specific law itself.

I think the federal government should set laws on guns that way there will be no “Advantage-Criminal” their will be no loop holes for criminals to take advantages of. It is also made very clear that their will be no laid back laws on gun control. When they see major situations like the war that's going on over-seize and gun possession because those are life threatening situations and that decision cannot be left up to an ignorant person to make because literally you life is on the life. Over all this mock congress did affect the way I think about how the government shares it's power on different issues that affect the entire world.
