The Constitution of the United States of America, written by brave, God –fearing men hold truths that abound, like …all men are created equal … all men have the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
I often wonder why Israel has so many enemies. Are her people so horrible- more so than any other ethnic group? Has anyone taken the time to even pretend to walk in her shoes? I find it amazing that this group of people have survived insurmountable odds over so many centuries in this world. I am not a Historian, nor have I studied history extensively. I only recall what I learned in school and what I’ve come to learn through the media over the years and I find that the Jews, like any other ethnic group has their quota of saints and sinners just like any other group.
Every ethnic group has a country they call home. Why is it wrong for the Jews to have theirs? Israel is never and I believe, has never been the aggressive one. In fact, the land, which by the way, was paid for, was a piece of barren land that no body wanted! Since the Israelis have made their land a habitable place, through hard work and perseverance, their neighbors do not want them there! They want it back! Can you believe that? This is unfair and unacceptable. This seems ridiculous and childish. Some of us need to stop and picture ourselves in Israel’s situation.
What would you do if you were sitting in your home, minding your business and your neighbor attacked you with the intent to take your life? Would you lie down and die? Let us say, that your neighbor is unsuccessful, but during the incursion, he kidnaps some of your children and hold them as ransom for some of his children who illegally broke into your home and who had been detained? What would you do? Especially soon after your brother, in an effort to appease his friends and seek peace, had recently removed his children off a peace of land you had legally annexed after a battle - a land they had nurtured and developed, a land they had built their homes on?
I strongly believe that Israelis, like the Jordanians, Iraquis, Iranians, Libyans, the French, and every ethnic group has a right to a place they can call “home” on this earth. To say that the Jews have no right to live in Israel is to say that her neighbors have no right to live where they do, also. After all, whether we like it or not, it is still one world. Either we will learn to live in peace with each other or we will continue to destroy each other. At no other time in history, have so many scientist believed that, even though they do not put it in these words, but eventually, Mother earth will have to cleanse herself of all that is unnatural to her. Will we open our eyes while we still can? We may still have a choice.
Many, who profess to believe in Jesus Christ, choose to blame the Jews for Jesus’ death. They believe that they were responsible for his betrayal and consequent crucifixion. I make no excuses for the Jews, but the reality speaks for itself. We should realize that not everyone had first hand knowledge that Jesus’ birth and death was prophesied. Not everyone one had their own copy of the Sacred Scrolls, but we have access to Bibles and millions of written data concerning this. Many people, I am sure, heard of this prediction at one time or other, but many did not understand- just like today. Many of us read the scriptures and do not understand. We give up when we need to pray for understanding. I stand guilty of that. We are so very busy “living” our lives, which we have filled with useless things-all clutter.
During those days, I suppose Fathers must have heard the prophesies from the reading of the scrolls when they went to the synagogue. Then, they in turn, must have told their children about the predictions throughout the ages. However, it is quite possible, that some people forgot; others did not believe and yet, others, because of the suppression of the Roman Empire, chose to believe that God was sending them a King who was physically going to kick the Romans out. Those who could not wait and wanted to kick the Romans out of Israel in their own way - right then, became rebels and criminals. Many lost their lives and much worse, their souls! There are some of us today, who want to do God’s work for him-right now! Even if it means doing, the opposite of what he taught. For example, some people who believe abortion is the killing of innocent babies also believe that it is right to kill doctors and those involved with abortion clinics! God’s law has not changed. We are not to kill.
Jesus Christ, being God the Son chose to die. Being who he is, I believe that if this was not his choice, no man would have been capable of killing him. This same man had quite recently, performed all kinds of miracles among them. To recall a couple, he turned water into wine at the request of his Mother while at a wedding feast; yes, Mother Mary was like every Mother. I smile when I imagine her pestering him to do this; he had healed terrible diseases; he had even awakened dead people! Further more, one of these people, most Christians have heard of was Lazarus. Lazarus had died a few days prior to his being brought back Therefore, if we believe that Jesus did all of this, then we also believe that he could have avoided crucifixion, if he had chosen to! He chose to die. He did die and as he promised, he arose from the dead on the third day.
We Christians should be careful that we do not judge others today because, we claim, “we were not there”. Let us recall that Jesus promised that he would return. It was prophesied centuries ago. However, it has been so long, that countless numbers do not believe it- I may be wrong, but we live like we do not believe it; many of us who claim to believe are too busy with life; while yet, others believe but want to predict when he will return – they want it their way. Even though he did say that, no one besides His Father in Heaven knows when he will return. Not even the angels, no one. Unfortunately, we will also be judged because we have also been told, we have read about it, we have studied it, millions of books have been written about it throughout the centuries and still we may not be ready when he does come again. It will be the saddest day for all eternity. We will not be able to claim, “We were not there”.
Let us forgive each other and ourselves for the wrongs we have done. Let us not judge one another because in God’s eye, a sin is a sin. None of us is without sin. Become your brother’s keeper. Let us live honestly and simply. Keep our eyes on Jesus and move forward.
