Barack Obama, in an interview today with Good Morning America, said that we cannot talk about Michelle Obama. A GOP Internet campaign in Tennessee has an ad featuring Michelle Obama's comments during the long Democratic campaign that "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country.”
What? Mrs. (or is it Ms., I can't keep track) Obama is Barack's most zealous advocate, his most important advisor and we cannot talk about her? I don't think so. They are running just as Bill and Hillary did in 1992, buy one, get one free. If Michelle is going to be the co-president as Hillary was from 1993-2001, why can't we talk about her?
Because this discussion of her gets in the way of Barack winning, that's why. Any discussion of any issue that will cost the Obamas votes is “out of bounds” because Barack is a different politician. We can't mention that he is a L------, the most L----- in the entire Senate. We can't mention his middle name. Following orders from Big Sister, I have forgotten it. We can't talk about him wanting to raise the capital gains tax rate even though most people now invest. We can't say that people like me, self-employed that barely make six figures, are going to have our taxes hiked when Obama jacks me up on Social Security payroll taxes that I already pay double on being self-employed. (Please read my column so I can pay these taxes.)
As a voter outside of Illinois, I know very little about him and want to know as much as possible about him and the people around him. I want to “kick the tires” before I make a decision who I want to give the keys to the White House for the next four years. In such a due diligence, we must look at the person's advisors, including and especially one's pastor and spouse. You can say what you want about Hillary, but she understood that she was getting into the contact sport of politics. If the Obamas don't want to get hurt, they better stay out of it. We need to know the philosophy of the Obamas plural before November so we know what we are getting ourselves into. The nation may be at stake and the next four years are going to be “interesting” times. We must do our due diligence, Sen. And Mrs. Obama.
