My Vote Matters

Why I'm for Obama.

No doubt I'm not the only one who's had these thoughts whether they were considered by one or by the masses--nonetheless I feel compelled to share them.

I'm an Obama fan. And for what I feel are all the right reasons. It doesn't have to do with one or the other “being qualified for the job” (as President of the United States) because as President Bill Clinton recently stated, no one is qualified until they've got the job and are doing it because so few people have actually held the position before them (a paraphrase)…and it really doesn't have to do with me not liking McCain (as in choosing the lesser of two evils) because I actually do like Senator McCain, always have.

However, the reasons Obama has captured my vote has to do with what I considered to be his wider view of things, his lack of and distaste for pettiness, his understanding that he may not always know everything and may not always be right coupled with his willingness to surround himself with others who may be able to input their intelligence and viewpoints so that he can make the best decisions--his understanding that yes, we need to communicate with these other powers that be, who may have one finger twitching on a button to blow the planet sky high--he is a gentleman and while I believe he recognizes all that is right with America that makes it “the greatest nation”, he's not shoving that down other nations' throats in a way that they then prefer to have nothing to do with us…but he instead is willing to extend a hand first--he is willing to be the representative of a great though powerful nation but not with a strong-arm of force before he's given reason to be forceful--but with a handshake of friendship and a hope aimed toward mutual understanding. I think that the twitching finger on the trigger of the weapon of mass destruction is not to be dared or antagonized--there's just too much at risk--there's you and there's me and all we hold dear.

As for the money mess we're in, it's like whoever wins the election has won the booby-prize! What a rat's nest to inherit! You couldn't pay me to take the job of cleaning that up…so I admire both candidates just for their willingness alone to take it on.

I hope that every eligible voter goes out this year to the polls. Make your vote count!

If only we knew of one thing that Obama actually DID (as opposed to talked) I would have agreed with you. I am afraid that with Obama as a president we are in for a very big disappointment like the one we had with Carter. I don\'t think you want that, but you have to vote the way you feel.

You are right we all have to vote and vote what each one of us ( Americans ) feel is right. This election year it is the worse of two evils. But I agree with Speed Limit I don't think Obama is the one. He is a lot of talk and little action. Well done article.

If it were not for the fact he Obama was not born in the United States I would vote for him but they fixed it for him and guess what now he is an American! What a load of crap. I'm American don't' live there and would never consider living there.

I liked it - thru and thru - don't know too much about each candidates past politics but I do know from being a spectator to the debates that McCain seemed obnoxious in his statements and that doesn't seem too POLITICAL. Obama 08!
