Back when Jimmy Carter was president he did an interview with Playboy Magazine. His brother, Billy, who was a general screw-up, was asked if he read his brother's interview. He told the interviewer he never got past the pictures! This was just one of the small transgressions from Billy Carter. He was a thorn in his brother's side the entire time Jimmy Carter was president.
Reverend Wright has become a thorn in Barack Hussein Obama's side these days. His remarks have caused quite a stir and Obama has been on the defensive since these have been made public.
There is one big difference between Billy Carter and Reverend Wright. Billy Carter was Jimmy's brother. They were kin. There was nothing Jimmy could do about Billy. Obama is in a much different deal than Jimmy Carter.
Obama chose Reverend Wright. He chose the church. He and his wife were married there. His children were baptized there. He attended church there. So he had an option at any time Reverend Wright made these controversial comments to walk out and just be done with the preacher. He never did that.
Yesterday Obama gave a "major" speech on race in Pennsylvania. Well, I am not fooled by his rhetoric. By not disavowing the preacher's statements when he originally made them Obama has left me believing he agrees with the anti-American and racist comments the pastor made. By distancing himself from the Reverend after the fiery speeches, from the pulpit now, were made public Obama shows his weakness and lack of being upright and forthcoming.
There is no way to make me believe that you are a great American and should even be considered for president when you support a guy who claims America brought 9-11 on herself. But that is what Obama did. He should have left Reverend Wright at that point. He did not. And that is just plain wrong.
So, again, I am not fooled. I will give a good example of what I mean when I say Obama should have just walked out.
When I moved to San Antonio there was hot and heavy action on an issue of building a golf resort over the Edwards Aquifer, which supplies San Antonio's water. The rhetoric was hot on both sides. I went to church one day at the church I chose. The priest gave this long winded sermon about the evils of it all. The resort had to be stopped. I got up during the middle of the homily and walked out of the church. As I was walking out the priest called me out. He asked why I was leaving his church. I replied, "I thought your degree was in theology, not geology!"
That's what Obama should have done when Reverend Wright made the controversial remarks. Just walk away then and there. He'd have shown he was a big man and a great American. As it stands, at least in my book right, he is neither.
