Having our soldiers over there can be viewed as a good thing or bad but here are some views from a soldiers wife. I believe that we went over there for the right reasons and though we may not be staying over there for the right reasons now, the soldiers that are in the military, have no control over what and where the president tells them that they must go.
We went over there to prove that we were not going to allow terrorist to mess with the US and to find Osama Bin Laden. However we are now over there trying to help them build their government up and have forgotten about the task we started over there, which was to find Osama Bin Laden.
Yes, I agree that they may need help setting up their government, but I do not agree with forget the real reason we went over there in the first place. I do not think our soldiers need to be going over there and risking their lives just to set up their government, but I do believe that our soldiers should still be trying to locate Bin Laden to help protect America. If our soldiers are only there to set up their government then they need to come home and quit being put in the face of death just to help their society. Although if our soldiers are there still looking for the terrorist that killed thousands of Americans than I say go for it, and if while they are there they can help their society great news for them.
I do not like the fact that our soldiers still have the possibility of going and facing death, but if it is for the right reasons and to protect Americans and not just to help the Iraqis then we should support them.
On another note, Our Soldiers are not the ones deciding this and where they go and for how long, so if some needs to berate someone, then look at the person sending our soldiers over there. I do not feel that it is our place, however, to decide if he is wrong or right because we are not getting all the information from the news. His reports and data come from higher sources that we nor the news has access to. His decisions whether you think they are right or wrong should not be taken out on our soldiers just doing "their jobs".
