The President of the United States led the people of the United States to believe that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction. It plunged the United States into the Second Vietnam War from which it is finding it hard to extricate itself. This is not unlike the first Viet Nam War situation.
Now, The President of the United States is hoping to retain control of congress. I am predicting that the Republicans will loose control of the Congress. This is due to the fact that the President’s lies were calculated and deliberate. It is the will of the people of the United States.
It is too premature to predict if the Republicans will loose control of the Senate. However, if they loose the Senate I will not be shedding tears. It is my feeling that President Bush and Prime Minister Blair deliberately misled the people of the United States and Great Britain. Further, they lied to the United Nations and are directly responsible for the deaths in the Middle East and neighboring countries. Reports show that the “fight against terrorism” has not made the United States or any other country any safer.
It is my observation that today’s leaders lack the integrity, honesty and sincerity which is expected of them. This is because the system is corrupt and only artful dodgers get to the top. Look at all the Republicans and Democrats who have been charged, found guilty and many have not been charged because their powerful positions offer them special protection.
If I told my students that another lecturer had a gun and I could not substantiate it I will loose my job and will be subjected to endless prosecution. The President is immune from prosecution / impeachment because the Congress and Senate are Republican controlled.
It saddens me to note that the President of The United States misled the peoples of the United States and the World and got away with it. It feels good to note that he is now having to pay the price – a defeat in elections. Sadder still is the fact that 300,000 thousand Iraqis and more than 2900 Americans paid a price which the President is not willing to pay.
Queen Elizabeth the Second often sends her children to join the armed forces. I wish President Bush had served in the Viet Nam War, and then he would have had a different perspective of what war really means. It is easy to send other peoples children to die for a course. I call this hypocrisy and double standards. One standard for the rich and privileged and another standard for the ordinary citizens.
