Is this the United States of America or is there now two Americas not so united? With our Federal Government bailing out banks, airlines, businesses of all types and now homeowners, excuse me, who is paying for this? Us, the taxpayers, not the Federal Government, it seems it is the working public that carries the brunt of the load.
If we keep spending and trying to fix the stupid mistakes made by educated adults and multi billion dollar corporations who will take care of the rest of our nations needs?
How will we pay for our military? How will be pay for Social Security? How will social service programs be affected by all this new spending? What about the trillion-dollar national debt, how is that going to be paid off? The list is long and the money is short.
There are people who can't buy food because gasoline is now so expensive. They stretch every dollar as far as possible. They give up extras and make do with what they have. Many have no insurance, no savings and only low paying jobs. Our government is taxing the working poor into the streets and out of their meager homes.
Yet the same government is giving money to homeowners that got in over their heads. So if you can't pay for your home just ask the nation to suck it up and pay so you can have a roof over your head in some nice neighborhood where you still can't afford to pay the utilities on said home? Does that make sense?
Who is the Federal Government? I thought it was a government of the people, a government by the people and for the people. If this is true why are we, the people, allowing the haves to rob from the have nots so the haves can stay afloat a little longer?
Our leaders are not public servants it seems they think they are celebrities. They are the government. We are the people and it feels like we are worlds apart.
When a CEO earns multi millions and can't make his company follow the rules and work within the law I say make him pay for the losses not the American Public. If companies and corporations, banking institutions fail then make sure they all pay their dues. The public doesn't owe them a dime. Yes investors get hurt; then those investors should hold that company executive and board of directors to the fire not the American Public. Make them sell assets like homes, boats, planes, and over seas accounts. The public is tired of paying for the kind of criminal behavior that would put the common man behind bars. Greed, power and crime seem to go hand in hand.
The American government has become too big for it's own good and too nasty for the common folks to trust. We are cursed with the best government money can buy!
