With the 4th of July coming up on us very soon, I felt inspired to write about what it means to me.
Everybody says "independence", "Freedom" and so on, but to me the 4th of July means something more entirely. The 4th of July is the celebration of the fulfillment of a dream.
The 4th of July and the birth of the American nation is the celebration of a dream our forefathers had finally coming to fruition.
No country is more free, no people more independent than those of America.
However, with great freedom comes great responsibility and that seems to be something too many Americans forget. They want to have the cake, but they don't want to take part in baking it.
Americans need to realize freedom is more than just "Oh, I can say what I want,it's a free country"
Freedom is a gift, had it not been for our forefathers dream, we may never have known the America we do today, and the sad part of it all is that so much is taken for granted.
So many are unthankful for the blessings we've been given.
Even Loving and marrying the person you want is a freedom not enjoyed in many other countries.
In India, and innumerable other places, marriages are still arranged. Some people are so unthankful for our freedoms, they've taken to mocking them and the people who've fought and died to protect them.
Example, soldiers who served in Vietnam, to preserve the liberties of people there, are still to this day often ridiculed. Liberty is not just a "concept" it is not just for the "elite".
Liberty is a God-given,valuable,priceless gift, my final statement in writing this article,
Have some respect ! The fourth of July should be a celebration of Liberty, not just another commercialized occasion.
