Since September 11, 2001 there has been a lot of interest in what is called Muslim extremists. A radical branch of Islam we are told. Of course as considering the violence attributed to such groups it is not surprising they would be viewed this way. Actions that are not endorsed by the Quran or Koran, the Muslim Holy Book.
However I would like to point out that is more than meets the eye. I am not personally a Muslim but I can tell you that this is another case of religion being used to fulfill the oldest agenda known to man. Hording money!
We all have heard the phrase "follow the money"in our life. It is never wrong. Thus let us see consider the events building up to the great war on terror.
Take the so called "devil" himself of the extremists. Osama bin Laden. He of course claims to espouse and adhere to the beliefs of Islam. As a militant he has used terms like fatwas and jihad to say he is warring out of faith, in the name of Allah or God. And because he says that people across the globe foolishly and gullibly believe it. In fact other Muslims should be offended by his misrepresentation. Not unlike professed Christians response should be irate at people using Christianity to kill or steal. The facts say "follow the money" and see what it says.
To begin with bin Laden has a degree in civil engineering. And he is very knowledgable in Islamic Fundamentalism. So although it is true we have no idea what he actually believes in this regard it is evident what his actions say. And that is all that matters.
From 1978 - 1992 The United states gave $6 to $20 billion dollars to the mujaheddin, an Afghan "liberation" force. This inlcuded arms and extensive training. The Saudi Arabian Government also kicked a nice chunk of change to the cause. Which if you do the research you see what the real cause was. The then Afghan Government was backed by then Communist Russia.
Osama bin Laden an extermely wealthy man at this time was also willing to invest a huge sum of his wealth to advance the cause of the "rebels" of Afghanistan. He in fact was instrumental along with the United States in building the training facilities in Afghanistan. The "contras" including bin Laden were called "Freedom Fighters" by the Western World, particularly the U.S.A. This gave them a facade of legitimacy and covered the reality that this was simply an attempt to stop Soviet control of Afghanistan.
A man named Hekmatyar was the leader of mujaheddin at the time. He was given all out support by the U.S and others. He also was infamous for throwing acid in the face of women who did not wear a veil to cover their face. He also was a notorious opium farmer and trafficker. The Afghan- Pakistan border area was respnsible for 60% of the worlds herion supply within two years of the CIA backing mujaheddin and Hekmatyar. The United States being one of the largest consumers of this insidious drug.
In fact as late as 1995 the former director of the CIA's operation in Afghanistan was unrepentant about the explosion in the flow of drugs from the area: “Our main mission was to do as much damage as possible to the Soviets... There was a fallout in terms of drugs, yes. But the main objective was accomplished. The Soviets left Afghanistan.” Affirming the true objective also.
In 1986 CIA chief William Casey committed CIA support to a long-standing ISI proposal to recruit from around the world to join the Afghan so called jihad. John Cooley, a former journalist with the US ABC television network and author of
Unholy Wars: Afghanistan, America and International Terrorism, has revealed that Muslims recruited in the U.S for the mujaheddin were sent to Camp Peary, the CIA's spy training camp in Virginia, where young Afghans, Arabs from Egypt and Jordan, and even some African-American “black Muslims” were taught “sabotage skills”.
The Afghan contra fighters, including the tens of thousands of mercenaries recruited and paid for by bin Laden, were armed by the CIA. Pakistan, the U.S and Britain provided military trainers. He, bin Laden established Al-Queda in 1987 to run the training camps and the business of bringing money into the group. Bin Laden saw this as an investment. He would make his money back and then some. The emphasis being on the "then some".
As the Taliban had taken control of Afghanistan many of the goals had been achieved. The Soviets were gone and the so called "liberators" could now impose their will on the people. Typical corruption. This what a bin Laden, his predecessors, and his cohorts are all about. Use religion and oppression from others to excuse and deflect your desire to gain control and exert your version of oppression on the people you supposedly were helping. And the U.S.A? Well once their agenda of getting the Soviets was achieved they didn't care either. It obviously was never about the common people having a better life.
