The Experience Factor: A One-Way Street

What's all the fuss about Sarah Palin's hair? It's just another layer of the glass ceiling.

For the last week or so we have been exposed by the media to multiple questions regarding Governor Sarah Palin’s experience and ability to take over as President should something happen to John McCain.  That’s quite a funny question!  We are worrying about experience a heartbeat away from the Presidency, BUT we are not worrying about experience AS the President!

I have been floored, as an every day citizen that one part of a term Senator Barrack Obama has an amazing lack of experience to even be considered for the Presidency, yet, as a Democrat, he is the next coming of, who knows what.  Mind you this is not a race issue; Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele, Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell all have significantly more experience in politics and positions of authority than Barrack Obama.  No-one is allowed to mention his lack of experience to be President Day–one.  Oh Hillary tried that card and was dealt the death blow from the female card.  I may not agree with Hillary’s politics but I am honest enough to say Hillary has 10 times more experience to be President than the current Democrat candidate.

So, the double standard is played.  The doubled standard was played against Hillary in many ways as she ran in the primaries against the good old boys candidate, yes, and the traditional good old boys Chicago political machine created a candidate who is articulate, new on the scene and the best way away from the Clinton era as possible.  We are all supposed to believe this is new politics.  When the dust settles, it’s truly the old political game.

Let’s get back to the discussion of the new female face of the Presidential race, Governor Sarah Palin.  Well what do you do with a woman who in 2 years did more for the governor’s role in her state than some 2 term governors have accomplished in great states like California and New York?  What do you do with a woman who faced tremendous personal challenges with courage, faith and strength?  Certainly you get ready for her to face the Congress as one of the biggest challenges in courage and faith and strength there is in politics.

I love to listen to the pundits complain about her lack of experience.  They never complete the next sentence which should be “Of course its at least as much if not more than Senator Obama has in this race”.   I haven’t figured out why this is not discussed, I just know that if I hear about the media’s “tingle in their legs” when they see Senator Obama or discuss what style hair Governor Palin will wear today, I think I will lose all faith in our political system as well as our news reporting capability, shut the TV and turn off the radio until the election is over!

Now, can we have an honest debate about what actual Americans care about? Can we talk about the economy, job creation by the pro-business environment we should have in this country?  Can we talk about taking off the gloves on National Security and stop offering US Citizens type rights to those who terrorize our citizens and are not entitled to those rights? Can we talk about peace through strength, not negotiation?  Can we talk about drill here, drill now, nuclear energy, renewable resources and going green for the right reasons, not the unproven sciences of global warming?

I’m sorry, am I going just too far?  Ok, well let me say this about Sarah Palin breaking the Glass Ceiling – You Go Girl!
