The western dream of democracy in Iraq has turned into a bloody nightmare which we can all watch on our TV sets every single day. Once again the Middle Eastern complex, unpredictable political landscape has proven to be a quilt made out of power struggles, religions and cultures as tightly neat treads.
Simple separation of religion and state doesn’t work here, at least not now.
Vicious demons of violence half asleep under the iron hand of Saddam Hussein are wide awake at the Euphrates. History seems to repeat itself with chilling accuracy.
United States of America will have a very hard time coming out of the impasse this war has created. Ii is clear that good intentions and military might are not enough to change nearly 5000 years old violent history.
It would take deep resolve and mature vision on part of Iraqi people which they obviously lack.
Presently it is desperate for peace internally divided country. Many experts predict full blown civil war after U.S. pool out but I can see a scenario which happened few times before in such a situation of weakness in which Iran’s dream can come true.
A dream to annex to its territory their most holy Shiite sights and the oil fields…
I don’t think that Iran and Syria are just trying to be “good citizens” wanting to help out, they both want benefits, if they will get them there will be no Iraq and the clash of civilizations will most certainly begin.
The world is at crossroads and the future depends on the road the west will take, hopefully the right one.
