In reply to a comment I made on Youtube, regarding Senator Obama's apt handling of a particular interview, an individual asked me if I thought, what he described as, Obama's “change” and “yes we can” message would work. He went one to state that American would not fall for what he called, in paraphrase, that nonsense.
He then asked that I read a book and find out what Obama was really about. I did not specify what book, however.
Americans fell many times to see how difficult it really is to be a politician of note in the USA. In many other countries, leaders go the easy way; they intimidate assault and even kill their way up the ladder.
The genius of America is that you have to reach into the heart and minds of people or else they follow the other guy. It's that simple. People say what they want and vote how they like.
Herein we also find the genius of Obama. He is the true idea of an American politician. In order to be a politician in America, it matters little whether you are on the left or the right; you have to reach out people within a vast spectrum of ideologies. This is what Obama has done. He has been able to reach in to the American psyche and give voice to hopes and aspirations that lay dormant for years.
Obama, just by campaigning, has put together a coalition of Americans of all races, generations, and beliefs. The man has all but wrecked the Clinton political machine and in the process changed American politics, and perhaps world politics, forever, just by campaigning at the party primary level!
