Ah, to once again experience that twinge of pride that we all once knew. That tingle and stirring of knowledge that we were absolutely right in the choice we made, coming from deep within our heart and soul simultaneously.
An old adage, “Truth rings like a Silver Bell”. I don't know about you; but I haven't heard that bell in one hell of a long time.
When the last time was any of us were absolutely sure of anything or for that matter, collectively agreed upon anything?
When did we last have a deserved moment of pride in what we as a nation were doing and were adamantly sure of the action or direction we had chosen?
When did we last have pride in a leader? When did one last stand taller than the moment or the event? I'm not inferring simply a photo opportunity. I'm questioning character and that deep inner knowledge when truth was being perceived.
I'm suggesting an uncomplicated spokesman that addressed us with no conditional proviso or immediate suspicion from many of us as to that person's motivations or attempted manipulations. We have been so bereft of leadership for so long!
Why have we allowed and settled for the best President, Congress and Senate that money could buy?
I do remember a time when we at least felt as though the country belonged to all of us.
Of course, then there was that ultimate censorship and demonstration of power broadcast into our lives and psyches from Dallas.
Now, that illusion of ownership has been passively set aside for a realism of our own making and acceptance.
“Reality” after all, is what we allow it to be.
When we passively bow and bend a knee, we are no better than those leaders we have allowed to lead. We bend and bow only slightly lower than them.
Groveling and cowering, shrugging in hopelessness or indifference or passive acceptance and glancing furtively elsewhere, instead of directly in to the face of the established power structure leaves us solely with what we deserve; and what we have!
How about this? What say we rest the power and authority and privilege of selecting our leaders from the established “Power Elite” and reclaim it for the entire nation!
What say we set up a new “Oath of Office” for all Political “want to be our leader” types?
- You fail us, you're impeached!
- You get caught lying to us in the slightest form….you're impeached.
- You demonstrate moral turpitude, you're impeached and jailed.
- You receive money, good, services, considerations now or after serving your country….you're impeached, tried, convicted and sentenced without possibility of parole! (No other sentence will be considered.).
- You belong to a Political Action Committee or actively or passively “Lobby”, the determination, less impeachment that applies in item four, applies to you.
The man or woman that will put their name to the above is the rightful next President, Congressperson or Senator.
If you can't sign it - sit down and shut up.
Don't tell me about the impracticality of my outlined expectancies. They are inviolate and easily attained - by an honest person! You don't want to play by these standards? I don't want to be bothered with you or anything you have to say. Not one word!
- Special Interests: dissolved.
- P.A.C.'s: dissolved.
- Lobbyists: hung, if it was up to me!
- Lawyers: God have mercy on your skeevy souls!
- This would be a real “Oath of Office”!
The “Right to Privacy” would once again be inviolate and “Freedom of Speech” without fear of conviction under “The Patriot Act” once again inviolate.
Yes, I know all I've suggested can't and won't be considered, entertained or even remotely allowed. What's the point of being privileged if you have no privileges?
I'm just asking you to think people. As I said before: pragmatic realism can be what we make it, instead of what others make it for us.
