Where is Africa-America?

I firmly believe that right now, in the year 2008, Americans are so anxious to prove to the country, themselves, and the world that we have healed from all the black-white fighting and hatred that we are willing to put into office a man who is not ready.

I am in no way trying to be confrontational here. I have faith and am secure in the fact that those who know me would never characterize me as being racist. So I want to set your mind at ease. There is no disrespect to anyone intended. I am not trying to bring segregation or dissention. I am not trying to stir the pot, rock the boat, or throw wrenches into anybody's wheel. I am quite simply trying to do the opposite.

This rhetoric of “Help us Vote Into Office So-n-So - the first African-American Blank-n-So offends me. Do you understand what I am saying? I am insisting to others, as I try to persuade them to vote for John McCain instead of Obama, that they cannot vote for Obama just because he is African-American. I say I don't want any kind of President but AMERICAN. As long as this term is deemed socially acceptable, we will continue to further the gap between all Americans.

I heard the term European-American a year or so ago. I immediately loved it. Not that I would ever use it to describe myself, but I enjoyed entertaining the thought. I don't know, and most of the time I don't care, where my ancestors were born or raised. Does it matter if they came over from England, Ireland, or Africa? Regardless of which distant or connected land they hailed from, I would still be me. I have friends, many of them, who have no problem with the term African-American, and they refer to themselves and relatives as black people. So I feel free to use these terms. I understand both terms. I just don't understand why we continue to distinguish between Americans from African lineage from all the rest of us. I don't think the word American should be attached to any other country, with the exception of actual minorities of this day and age whom have foreign and domestic blood combined flowing through them, (such as, children born of foreign women on foreign soil who were fathered by American soldiers, of any race).

I firmly believe that right now, in the year 2008, Americans are so anxious to prove to the country, themselves, and the world that we have healed from all the black-white fighting and hatred that we are willing to put into office a man who is not ready. I believe Obama is a person who does not have enough of the qualities, skills or experience necessary to make the best choices in the majority of situations. I believe John McCain has earned this place in history and I would hate to see it not come to pass because of the color of Barack Obama's skin. That is why I say that the term African-American is outdated. America's history, including Africa-America, is in the hearts of all Americans, but the label divides us - and divided We WILL Fall! That's all I'm saying folks.

What a stupid article !!!
The reason people are hoping to put Obama in office is that they have enough of the white crackers f__k__g things up, not because of Obamas skin color. You seem to have a problem with that in spite of what you have written. Typical American hypocrite !!
John McCain is a Bush clone and has not earned a place in history. He was a POW that was stupid enough to get caught in a war that American declared on a country no larger than the size of Texas. Another WAR President like John McCain is not needed.

What is needed is a person with a global perspective, highly educated, who has lived abroad and understand the global mindset. Obama meets that criteria.

Another Bush is not needed (remember how he could not name a single other World leader when asked in the town hall meetings in early 2000 ?? hee hee stupid American...). John McCain has demonstrated the same kind of ignorance about the Iraq situation. Sounds like you are as dumb as Bush and McCain and would like to be represented by another stupid American.....

John,

I am sorry you misunderstood what I am saying. I did not degrade Barack Obama, yet you felt it necessary to degrade me and John McCain. Why?

That is sad. I try to live my life free from bias, make sound decisions and believe in the best of everyone. Obama is NOT ready no matter what you say. I know he is educated. I know he has travelled abroad, but that does not make him ready to be president. I don't believe he is totally incapable of being a good president, I just don't think he is capable now.

How arrogant of you to call any soldier stupid who fought in any war. Most soldiers who have gone to war for America in any of our wars did so with honor and for you to call them names and belittle them is UN-American.

Thanks for reading my article and for the comment, but you have not swayed me one iota.

I find it hard to take criticism of my intelligence from someone who uses poor grammar, misspelled words and posts such comments without editing what they write. We have SpellCheck now and you don't have to use white-out if you make a mistake, just backspace and fix your errors. Stupid is as stupid writes! I did not insult anyone or use profanity. I think to do so is stupid.
