Why is No One Asking Serious Questions About the War on Terror?

Regardless of our personal opinions, what has the war on terror really gotten us?

Please put your political convictions aside for a few minutes. Also any anti-war or pro war sentiment should be placed on the shelf for this article. Let's just view the war on terror from a realistic and practical standpoint for a moment.

After the 9/11 attacks on the United States, the driving force behind the Afghanistan and subsequent Iraq invasion was an all out attack on terrorists abroad. It was reported that the aim in Afghanistan was to end Taliban rule and rid the world of Al-Qaeda threats. And at the very least catch the perpetrators and the master mind of 9/11 and bring them to justice. What has actually happened?

Well it is nice to see that the Taliban does not pull all the strings anymore but they are far from not having influence. This leads to question number 1. Why? How does a rough shod radical religous sect withstand the most powerful military armies in the world?

And Al-Qaeda? Stronger then ever according to world wide reports. Just today (July 18) there are reports of Al-Queda coming from all over to help the cause!

As for Bin Laden and the crew? Mostly in tact. In fact the reports still claim he has long left Afghanistan and is in Pakistan.

And speaking of Al-Qaeda. History and intelligence have long documented that for all of Hussien's incompetence and lunacy he never, ever tolerated Al-Qaeda and it's influence in Iraq. And yet the invasion and occupancy of Iraq is brought untold numbers of armed and organized Al-Qaeda into Iraq.

Also in the early stages of this "tireless" pursuit to end terror it was insisted by the "free" countries that accountability was to be demanded from countries that harbor terrorists. Well Syria, the Sudan, Iran, Pakistan, and others continue to tolerate or even support terror organizations without even a hint of accountability.

War on terror? Sounds like the War on Drugs back in the late 1970's and 1980's. The result of that war? Nothing. The proliferation of drugs didn't even hit a speed bump and have continued to grow since. And the so called fighters of this war were never called to task. In fact behind the scenes numerous people got filthy rich from the pseudo war and still do.

Sound familiar? It should because that is all the War on terror has done. It has made billions of dollars for people involved. It has put economies in a challenging position.

As for the safety of the "free" countries. Despite all the reported prevention of attacks the numbers of terror attacks are just as imminent as ever before. In fact in some years since this war to stop terror there has been an increase in terror attacks. None of which includes the carnage of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The irony of all this that people assume that the culprits are all radical Muslims. And yet despite who is behind it 50% of the victims are Muslim.

So where are the cries from humanity asking "what are we doing?" What are we actually stopping or preventing? Doesn't anyone care that people are profiting off of your fear and even worse the untimely death of thousands of combatants and innocent civilians? And some of those profiting are your leaders and businessman! A bit of a conflict of interest isn't it?

And despite the corruption that is occasionally exposed no one blinks an eye. In fact some will read this article and say "this guy is anti-freedom and anti-American." And they will miss the whole point. I'm anti "bullcrap." I resent the callous treatment of putting people in harms way under a false and futile effort. And I'm tired of being ignoring the facts and making excuses for the derelict actions of influential people.

And worse yet there are more effective measures to stop or control terrorists. One is if you can't stop the money going to them you can make the people who supply it pay dearly. And believe me they know a lot more than they say they do.

I want to know when everyone is going to start asking for some answers.

This war has profitted a lot of people, one group being Al Qaeda. As you so rightly pointed out, Sadam (and I'm not saying he's a good man, everyone knows how terrible he was) kept them at bay. However, now that Iraq is in chaos, the so-called war on 'terror' has turned into the war benefitting the real terroists.

Good Article, but the title and some of the content is misleading !!

A lot of nations (in fact the global majority) were asking questions about the fake war on terror and refused to participate except for England.
The only people who never questioned and still refuse to question is the dumb jackass American who prefers to remain ignorant and uninformed. Remember the poll taken in early 2003 where 89% of those polled could not point out Iraq on a regular Map of the world.
This lack of interest and curiosity about the rest of the world (from which by the way you import almost 90% of the stuff you consume) is reflective of the low level uneducated peasant mindset of the people that colonized American and persists till the current day.

Thanks for the comments.

And John you are correct I did fail to point out I was referring mainly to the brainwashed American who believes that all governments are corrupt except their own.

I ashamedly forget the international audience we are sharing here on Triond!
