I believe that the vast majority of illegal immigrants come to the United States in search of better jobs and more freedom. But could they become part of an invasion plan? I can envision a scenario in which this could happen. It involves Mexican and American views of history, economics and the emergence of a charismatic leader in Mexico.
Let us say that a new leader becomes President of Mexico. He is charismatic, populistic and nationalistic, and may also have Marxist and/or pro-Islamic leanings. Reminding people of things that they have already learned in school, he tells the people that Mexico once owned the American states of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
He tells them that General Santa Ana went to Texas to free the slaves. (The Pope had recently outlawed slavery). Then he goes on about how Santa Ana signed away Mexico's possessions without the authority to do so, and under duress. Finally, he urges his expatriated countrymen to rise up and take back that which is Mexico's.
Soon riots break out in cities like Los Angeles and Houston. Across the Southwest, police and the National Guard are bogged down trying to restore order. Mexico's leader masses his federal troops along the border and orders them to cross into the United States. The U.S. counterattacks and an all-out border war ensues with massive losses on both sides.
Sound far-fetched? Perhaps. But suppose we have a President who practices an open-border policy with Mexico and Canada. We can see how such a policy can result in chaos. Remember also that Mexico is our second-largest supplier of oil, just behind Canada. And what if someone decides to take advantage of the chaos to smuggle a weapon of mass destruction into the United States?
