The recent reduction of the electricity cost in the Philippines benefited mostly the consumers of MERALCO. Yet there are other million of electric consumers in the country served by other electric utilities. Most of them are served by electric cooperatives that haves high rates and non-uniform rates. Subsidy of the government might just as well be directed to these poor EC consumers.
