With the recent loss of the Presidential election, many members of the Republican party are scratching their heads and wondering where they go from here. That is a difficult question to answer, but it is the question the entire party needs to ask. In the past 6 years the party has no doubt taken a sharp turn from it's conservative roots in which it was founded. This turn, many believe, has been the downfall of the party and has been the direct cause of the loss of seats in both the House and Senate. The belief that bi-partisanship was the answer to a better government fell a little short when the Dem's began to gain power and left their Republican counterparts behind to pursue their own agendas.
So, what does the party do now? I believe it is time for a change in the leadership of the party. "The good ole boy network" needs to go. Politics has changed greatly in the past few elections and so the party must make a change. The stakes are higher and the campaigns are ever more grueling. The recent campaign was filled with attacks from both sides and so much back and forth that there was no time for real issue talk. I know that the debates were a disappointment to many for that reason. I believe new faces in the role of leadership would be a welcomed "breath of fresh air" for the party. Make no mistake, the greatest change to be made is undoubtedly the return to conservatism.
Conservatism made the Republican party and many of the new faces in the party believe that is the direction to head. There has been much discussion lately on issue of "new faces" and "back to our roots" direction on conservative talk radio. The issue of returning to "our roots" is an issue easier said than done, unless we change the faces of the party. It is true in many things in life, if you keep doing what you are doing, you will keep getting what you have been getting. Change led one campaign to success this election season and now it is time for the Republican Party to change.
This article is of my opinion, but I am not the only conservative to think this is the way the party needs to direct itself. I do envite any and all responses, conservative or not.
