After Tuesday's Florida Primary, former Republican Nominee hopeful Rudy Giuliani gave his support to John McCain. A few days later, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also gave his support to McCain and endorsed him as his Republican Candidate of choice. Now that John McCain has the support of these two well-known Republicans, it is important to see just how their endorsements could possibly help him in the near future.
With “Super Tuesday” just days away, these endorsements of McCain could possibly help him win the Republican nomination of both California and New York (Schwarzenegger and Giuliani's home states respectively,) and allow him to gain a key momentum with voters in western and northern states. Another key state to watch and see if Giuliani's endorsements help McCain is the state of New Jersey. With parts of New Jersey bordering New York, many people frequently travel between the two states and have been familiar with Giuliani by reading newspapers, listening to the radio, and watching television.
Should McCain win any of these above mentioned states, he can add any electoral votes to the votes he received by winning the New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida Republican Primaries. While “Super Tuesday” is not the end of the road for some Republicans, it is a good indicator of where a candidate stands in many areas of the country. For John McCain, picking up endorsements in these heavily-populated states may be a blessing, only time will tell just how “Super Tuesday,” along with the rest of the Republican Presidential Primaries play out.
