Democrats, Republicans, and the Price of Oil

Everyone seems to have their own idea about why crude oil prices are soaring. Maybe there is truth to it and maybe there is truth to my scenario.

We are all faced with it and there are more questions than answers when trying to explain it. Everyone knows something should be done but there is no one who knows what to do. Should we let it ruin our economy or should we let the world's oil suppliers dictate our life. This seems to be the first of surely several to unanswered questions to come over the next few month's as we contemplate our vote in the 2008 Presidential election.

There are several views and speculation on why the price of oil is so high and contnuing to rise. The vast majority of people I talk to seem to think it is because President George Bush is trying to make all the money he can before he leaves the executive office. Some people even say it is because all of the republicans in office are trying to make there money before George leaves his glamorous throne.

There is another scenario that I have not heard anyone mention and I just wonder if this scenario could not quite possibly make more sense than the prior mentions have made. Could it not be an external force acting on our economy trying to force us into something we could quite possibly regret in the future?

I am referring to the oil producing nations around the world that support or at least have tiess to countries that support terrorism. Oil is vitally important to our economy and directly affects everything in our country. No matter what we depend on or desire the cost is directly proportional to the cost of the fuel consumed in the process from manufacture to delivery.

Let me say that we as Americans and even the citizens of a vast majority of other countries realize that an economy swings back and forth. An economy cannot keep going in a positive direction, it must drop and rebound at times. If it continued to rise everything would become stagnant. By this I mean wages and costs would be on a typical straight line up and as one rose so would the other. People would not get more rich or poor it would create a stagnant or constant state.

Many of us can remember the economy on the 70's, and 80's and remember how tough the times were for many. So many of these Republican years. Ronald Reagan did a lot to try and stimulate the economy during his 8 years as Commander In Chief it just did not happen fast enough. Then along came George Bush Senior. The economy started a slow turn for the better but when Awesome Bill took over the economy was ripe.

Bill Clinton, as a Democrat got to take credit for the upturn in the economy. Jobs were plentiful and not many people were complaining. Thing is though, Bill made a few mistakes as well. When he sent those air strikes into Iraq it was to little. Why did he not do more? I think it was because of the Democrat's philosophy. "We do not really want to fight; Do we?" Sure, in fairness, I must say George Bush Senior fell weak as well and withdrew to soon.

George Bush II, when he took over from Bill Clinton was faced with the wrath of the Democrat philosophy of negotiations over force. When we look at the void in the skyline of New York City we see the wrath of peaceful negotiations. What was George to do? Invite these rogue groups and there leaders to brunch at the White House and discuss the severity of their actions? Absolutely not! Give them what they asked for; stand up for our country and take the actions they took.

I am not trying to insinuate that Afghanistan and Iraq were, as countries, directly responsible for the terrorist attack against the United States. Afghanistan, by letting Osama Bi Laden and his group reside in their country knowingly and knowing their intentions were indirectly responsible for the situation we faced. And Iraq should have fell two presidents earlier or on President earlier.

Since quite a bit of our oil comes from the middle east who do you think they would like to see as President of the United States? I propose that they wish to see a democrat as president and this is for their safety. It is plain to see that the democrat party believes that peaceful negotiations is the only way to handle these rogue nations and terrorists. Republicans on the other hand tend to fight fire with fire and keep the terrorism across the water.

I think that maybe the price of crude is going so high because these nations feel that by doing such they can force the American people into voting Democrat in the National election. The majority of people remember the economy under President Clinton but they seem to forget that the price of oil increased then as well. Not as much as in more recent times but an increase anyway.

The terrorism started to move west until we elected a Republican. These countries "overseas" are having to deal with the terrorism and the terrorists and they know with a Republican President they face the possibility of force for harbouring and supporting these groups and factions. However, with a Democrat President they know they may get a smack on the hand or some boring conversation out of the deal but our guard and our defences will be down and the terrorism can move west again.

I am not blaming 911 on the democratic party. I really do not believe anyone would intentionally let anything of that nature happen intentionally. I pray not anyway. I am saying that high oil prices hurts our economy and it is a proven fact that people believe the economy is better under a democrat. Thing is though, do not let your vote be cast in anticipation of something good that can cost us more than the all the oil in the middle east is worth. We can vote democrat, get lower fuel prices, help the economy and face the consequences or we can vote Republican, say to hell with the fuel prices, unite as a group of people and weather the economy and defend the rights and freedom that all those who have died for firmly believe we deserve.

The choice is mine and yours not theirs.
