Florida and Michigan Votes

Florida and Michigan votes, Obama moves within striking distance of becoming the democratic presidential nominee and Clinton will soon quit after a long, hard and sometimes "bitter" battle.

The Democratic National Committee, which is interestingly enough chaired by Howard Dean, who made a historic flop in the 2000 presidential election, voted to seat the Electoral College delegates in 2 key battleground states for the general election, Florida & Michigan. Who does this help? At first glance, it's Hillary Clinton, famous for her “3 AM” commercial and “full speed on to the White House” speech in Indiana.

Originally, 2062 delegates were needed to secure the democratic presidential nomination. Now, the number stands at 2117. Before the votes were cast in Florida & Michigan, Obama had 2052 delegates, only 10 delegates away from securing the nomination. With Clinton picking up 38 delegates and Obama picking up 32, Obama now has 2084 delegates, only 65 delegates away, while Clinton now has 1879. Once “uncommitted” superdelegates officially declare for Obama, the “bitter” fight for the democratic presidential nomination will FINALLY come to an end.
