As a famous comedian from the 60s used to say: 'and away we go.'
Here we go:
I hate politics with a passion because most politicians promise us this and that, and then when we get them into office they 'forget' their promises and go on to a different agenda altogether.
I am a die hard Democrat because of my mom and because I come from a long line of middle class workers. Currently I am in between jobs due to a wrong decision that I made almost four years ago, but that is neither here nor there.
I have been working since 1980, times were different then and it was a different world but we all worked and we all were happy. At that time I was living in San Francisco, CA with my then girl friend whom I later married two years later. We lived in a one bedroom apt. that was built in 1910, we paid $350 per month, though now most people don't believe that story but it is true. Here we are now years later and the average rent in San Francisco is $1700. My last apt. where I lived in SF was $1710, and that was for a studio apt. It doesn't matter that it was in a high rise building and it was on the 11th floor, the fact of the matter is that it was a studio apt. that was outrageously priced.
Sure, nothing ever stays the same but it is time for a change. Though the price of gasoline has fallen, here in Southern California it is still over three dollars. The average price for a studio apartment is about $900-1000 depending on where you live. I look at peoples' faces when I am out and about, and even people who are shopping many peoples' faces are blank, they are blank because the time that we are currently living in is bleak. So many homeowners have lost their homes due to foreclosures, people are getting their cars repossessed because they cannot make the payments on their automobiles, people are getting evicted from their apartments because they can longer afford the rent. This is the scariest moment for me since being an adult, and to add insult to injury, long story short I am living at home with my 71 year old mother in Los Angeles, and I am living in her apartment. I am embarrassed, I feel like a failure and I cannot wait to eventually move. My story is not uncommon today because as we all know the economy is a mess. Sure like everyone knows, we will get out of this mess, we will survive and things will get better, but in the meantime we have to endure this nightmare each day.
Politics sucks and now more than ever in our history it is time for a change, and let's face it the last 8 years have not worked with our current 'leader' in office, and right now is the best time than any other time in history for a change! Of all of the Presdential Elections that I have voted in, this is the most important election ever, in my lifetime. We need to get our country and our economy back on track.
