The Democratic Party, especially Barack Obama and his fans, get offended too easily, including references that are not about them. Hillary was just saying this was a close nomination fight like 1968 when Robert Kennedy was shot and killed.
Once again, Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama has succeeded in offending someone and being offended in their fight for the Democratic nomination. It seems to happen every other day; this time it was Hillary doing the offending. She managed to succeed in this by merely mentioning the assassination of her predecessor to the US Senate from New York and fellow carbetbagger, Robert Kennedy. (Have I offended someone by saying that RFK trampled into New York to take an open Senate seat even though he never lived there before to use as a springboard to run for President just as Hillary? If I offended someone by telling the truth, get over it). This is what Hillary did, merely mentioning the sad fact that RFK was killed in California in the month of June while running for President. Barack thinks he was offended someone by making this mention. (Gee, Barack, is a pro at feeling offended when he is not being mentioned. He had his last moment of being offended when George Bush talked about appeasement of the Nazis by a US Senator in 1939 in an address at the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset. Even though Barack was not in the Senate in 1939, Barack thought Bush was talking about him).
I am a Republican and I despise Hillary Clinton and almost everything that she stands for. However, we all must learn to take everything in context and cut Hillary some slack on this one. What Hillary was trying to say (and did a very poor job of it) was that this would not be the first year that the battle for the Democratic nomination for President ran into June. On the night that RFK was sadly shot, June 4, 1968, he was making a victory speech for winning the Democratic Presidential primary in California. The nomination fight had carried on into June and RFK had built momentum by winning California to take on Vice President Humphrey at the Democratic convention later that summer. Hillary also mentioned that as recently as 1992, the fight for the Democratic convention carried on until June 2 when her husband clinched the nomination by beating Jerry Brown, the former governor of California, on his home turf. This nomination, even though I think it is over for all intents and purposes
is not mathematically clinched. Hillary, even though she has lost, has the right to fight on until the final contests of June 3 in Montana and South Dakota since the nomination has not been clinched mathematically. There, I said what she was trying to say far better than she did.
I thought this way, but was hesitant about how I thought until someone agreed with me that was no less than Robert Kennedy Jr. He said, “It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."
If Barack is going to be President, he and his followers will have to learn to be a little more thick-skinned. If Obama and his fans will get offended at things, real or imagined, we cannot be certain that Obama will be fit to be President. This is why we have this two year vetting process for President. Let's all chill out.
First off:
1. You don't know what Hilary was trying to say unless you are a mind reader which I doubt.
2. It is interesting that she should mention assasination when her opponent is a non-white; reminescent of the Martin Luther, hmmmm...
3. Bush; who intiated a number of policies including the Patriot Act to curtail our freedom violates those principles by discussing internal american politics on foreign soil. Typical of the republicans; unable to practice what they preach.
4. You are right. Bush's comment about the Nazis is more a reference to the politics the republican party practices...

GDS, Thanks sincerely for your comments.
1. Of course, I am not a mind-reader. I was interpreting her comments. Hillary clarified her remarks saying that she was talking about nomination fights into June.
2. Martin Luther King was not running for President in 1968. Anyone should be concerned about the safety of a presidential candidate, whether it be the woman, the black guy, or the old guy. Hillary, I am sure, is concerned of her own safety. It was simply a stupid way to say that in 1968 and 1992, the nomination fights carried on into June. Thanks again for your comments.
