Democrats or Republicans: Who Are the Good Guys?
When faced with the question, “Who are the bad guys and who are the good guys,” the old saying is, “kill them all and let God sort them out.” Well in politics I don't know how to practically apply that. But the burning question still remains. As we head toward this historic presidential election the decision gets harder for most people. There are hot button issues that affect each of us and each of us has a different hot button.
The hot buttons we have are well known by the political animals of our day. Millions of dollars are spent on polls and focus groups to determine which of our buttons the candidates need to push to get us to pull the lever in their favor. But are they really interested in what we think in order to help us, or in order to get our vote and get into office for their own power trip?
The field has been narrowed down to two; that is as far as Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Of course Ron Paul is still in the mix as is a few independent hopefuls, but by and large it's a two horse race between John McCain and Barack Obama. I have pretty much made up my mind who I will vote for. It wasn't that hard for me.
The reason it hasn't been hard for me is that I have some hard criteria and one of them is, lay off my hot button. There are particular things that are important to me when it comes to who governs our country, but I can't select just one or two of my issues and let them over ride the other concerns that I have. In short, I don't believe in voting for the lesser of two evils.
I believe in the sanctity of life and would love to see Roe versus Wade overturned. I would like to see lower taxes and better jobs, along with more affordable health care. And while I'm at it I'd like a new house with a four car garage, a new pickup truck, a new Cadillac and a million dollars in the bank, but I digress. You see the fact is I won't get anything on either of those lists. I've come to the conclusion that both candidates are trying to hit the hot button issues for the segment of the electorate that they think will get them elected. And has been the case in the past, once elected, they do whatever the heck they want to, without regard to the people and the issues that got them elected in the first place. G.W. Bush is no exception. I saw this same thing in the last election and didn't vote for either party then. As I said, I know who I'm voting for and it ain't any of the yahoos running this year. My vote is for the ONE who already occupies the seat of highest authority in the universe; Yahweh!
You see, I've learned that the only one who really cares is the Almighty Creator, Yahweh, and HIS Son, Yeshua, better known as Jesus. I've learned that they won't let me down. They've proven themselves time and again to know what is best for me and to deliver that which I need, as I submit to their authority. They don't lie to me. They never change their position or switch parties and disturb the balance of congress. You see they are ONE, and I am one with them.
Ok, this might sound stupid to many of you reading this article. But I am serious as a heart attack! I will not vote for ungodly men. I will choose to serve MY LORD and KING, Yahweh. You might say I have no right to complain about politics since I don't vote. Well you can say that all you want, but I will still complain. But I will pray and seek my LORD for HIS direction and see what HE will do. I know it will be right. HE pushes my hot buttons and they aren't to please me. When HE pushes them it usually unsettles me to get my attention. HE wants to bless, but in order to receive the blessing I must choose to hear and obey HIM and HIS Law. By the way, HIS Law doesn't change. It never has, contrary to what many teach.
So I live by the constitution of heaven. It's called Torah. I serve the Almighty Creator of the Universe, Yahweh. My vote is for HIS Son, Yeshua. Who are you voting for?
