A lot of people have made comments with the sharpest writing and finest combination of skills and sophistry about Mr. Barack Obama, the aspiring Democratic candidate for the White House; but his ambition may be too tall for the American society to accommodate.
Obama is an American of Kenyan stock, though American blood flows in him because his mother is an American. He had a purely middle class White American upbringing because his father absconded and left him with his mother at the tender age of two. He was brought up under the singular discipline of his mother, such that the only connection he had with his father in his developmental years was spiritual. He had a rough start in life, but he ultimately did not relent because God had a purpose for him.
His long abode in America notwithstanding; however, the greatest truth that might suffocate his political ambition is his skin colour and dual citizenship. America is still the seat of world government, even though China is warming up to take over that mantle of leadership. The American Presidency is the most revered position in the world as at now. The White House is a sacred place that I think is consecrated only for white Americans.
Albeit the Americans refer to their country as God's own country, the level of injustice and racism there makes the "children of God" to ponder whether the God they refer to is the same God they believe in. Consequently, I think, the last thing Americans will do is to allow a black man to "desecrate" the White House. It will amount to political sacrilege. It is good to have political ambition, but it should not be too tall, especially in a country where you are not fully integrated.
Obama's tall ambition, to me, is akin to Dodi Fayed's dream to contaminate the royal blood with an Arab heir. There are certain areas the black man should thread with caution, and American Presidency happens to be one of such. In America, the blacks still play the fourth fiddle. Collins Powell did; and Condoleezza Rice, the current Secretary of State is doing the same.
Blood, they say, does not lie. The current political impasse in Kenya - the fatherland of Obama - may even have some negative writing impression on the minds of Americans. The bone of Kenyan stable democracy has been broken and it will take a community of experienced orthopaedic surgeons valuable time to fix it. One might wonder at this juncture that if the black Kenyan is allowed to become president, would he want to perpetuate himself in office like most African Heads of States? And if it is true that blood does not lie, will the American blood in Obama speak better things than the Kenyan blood in him?
America's struggle for supremacy in international politics and diplomacy is another reason why a black man may not find it easy to access the American Presidency. If the election could be rigged (as was then alleged) when two contenders were white Americans, I believe that to "outrig" a black man, no matter the mass support he has, will be a cakewalk.
Obama has done well politically, but if his ambition must come true, he needs a complete transfusion of his blood system. Precisely put, he needs pure American blood in him. The black man's heart is not as hard as the whites, especially Americans who are desperate to colonise Africa once again. Their colonial idea to have an African High Command, which has received approval from a number of African leaders, is a positive indicator in this direction.
Martin Luther King fought racism and nurtured the tall ambition to secure equal national status for the black Americans, but his sojourn here on earth was ended prematurely. I reject untimely death for Obama. King, unlike Obama, started dreaming at a tender age and this affected his liberation struggle. He did not consult his Bible; otherwise, he would have seen where it is clearly written that only old men shall dream dreams.
May God bless Obama and make it possible for him to realize his vision. This is an arduous task. However, with God, all things are possible.
