Politics and Marketing: A Genius Approach with Measured Results

Marketing is such a major influence and gives such a great opportunity, that President Elect Obama won over an entire country by using smart and tactical marketing skills in his political campaign.

President Elect Obama believes in marketing and his campaign proved it.

I am not into politics, and this message to you is in no way political.

As all my messages, this is about marketing and if one man has been able to turn to marketing to turn over an entire country, how can you not believe in marketing for yourself and your business.

Rule 1: Show the problem, offer the Solution

When you have a product that you want people to know about, you show them the problem and how your "product" or "service" can solve it. Consumers don't purchase something if they don't have a need or want for it.

President Elect Obama targeted with just that in mind. His entire campaign focused on the current want (and some say need) of Americans: CHANGE. He is offering a solution to the problem andat the minimum he is offering the hope that is necessary for that change.

Rule 2: Social Media - Go where your target goes

No other political party in history has targeted a political campaign with such high tech and with such marketing intensity. There is no doubt that social media marketing works, and with Facebook and other social media networks I found throughout the past weeks also represent that. People who have the same believes, the same need or want (aka, CHANGE) gathered in strengthsthru online communities of supporters and pulled together.

Rule 3: Online Marketing - Keeping up with today's marketing venues

President Elect Obama's campaign included online marketing. Although I won't go into the obvious benefits of online marketing, I will say that he and his team beat the competition by thinking outside the box. They marketed and advertised where his opponent didn't even aim.
Now we know that there is no doubt that tonight's election will go down in history. The question I ask you tonight is do you still consider that marketing properly is not worth it for yourself and your business? Not even in today's economy?
