Politics in a Progressive Regression

What was once a wonderful idea, now turns to childlike antics.

Years ago, men got into the political game to fight for what is right.  I leave out women because that was surely unheard of for at the first hundred years. They got there by sticking to the issues of the times and only won when they stated the best case for themselves.  I am sure hidden agenda’s, illegal activities, like cheating and guns played a huge part but the public never knew and what happened behind the scenes in the political arena stayed behind the scenes.

The point of having politics is to have a choice and beside the few individuals that took it upon themselves to assassinate the few good ones we ever had because of the individual’s political belief the political machine we created worked.

Now we seem to have a whole new political agenda and they play the cutthroat game.  I know if Washington or Lincoln were alive again to see politics today, they would die again.

Politics like anything else fell into the hand of big business. Each side now hires all types to do all sorts.  We have people just to dig up dirt on others and if they can’t they make it up.  This falls under the name of cheating which both sides have always done, only now it is out in the open.  The voter is more likely to make a snap judgment and believe what is thrown their way.  They are like a jury that has heard evidence that was tossed out, they still heard it and no matter what, remembers it.

The regression is this.  What was once a good old fight back in the day was between grown men who stood by issues being it their own personal lie or not.  Now what we seem to have is grade school politics.  Mud slinging, truth or not, name calling included, as well as the neener, neener, neener, factor.   Does America really need children running the show for us all?  Issues were and always be the right way to go.  The lies must stop because as we all know once in office they all seem to regress back to a carbon copy of the previous official. Be it man or woman, black or white, what we need is someone that is one of us, not a personality, a relic, or a hottie with the body.  We need someone that will act in out better interests, not someone that has his or her eye on the prize.  It is never about the prize but about the people.

Hi Bob, I agree, and this is a well written article!
One thing that really bothers me, is that our children are seeing this behavior, and believing that it is ok to lie, cheat, instigate, and behave this immature as adults. I wrote an article about this http://www.newsflavor.com/Opinions/Family-Values-vs-Politics.268915
I hope you will read it when you have time, and give me your opinion.

(applaud) Great article, and totally agree with you.

I try not to watch anymore. I saw someone earlier on tv, said to google the name, read up and vote for the best choice. I'm not sure if that might be what we all need to do anymore
