Rumors on Sarah Palin range from her attempting to ban books from the library in her home town to having an extramural affair with an associate of her husband's. While these are likely untrue, there is enough against her that these do not have to be relied on. While it's easy to dismiss these holes in Palin's resume, it's important because Palin will be a heartbeat (literally) away from the presidency and play a prominent role in shaping our nation's future.
Bridge to Nowhere
According to factcheck.com, “Palin may have said “Thanks, but no thanks” on the Bridge to Nowhere, though not until Congress had pretty much killed it already. But that was a sharp turnaround from the position she took during her gubernatorial campaign, and the town where she was mayor received lots of earmarks during her tenure.” While the “thanks but no thanks” to the bridge to nowhere is proven to be a lie, Palin keeps repeating this claim.
Experience
Prior to McCain's pick of Sarah Palin for VP, Barack Obama's political experience has been in question. He began as a community organizer for 3 years, then moved on to become a teacher of constitutional law. Obama has 8 years experience in the Illinois state senate and has 4 years experience in the US senate. In contrast, Palin has 6 years experience as mayor of a town of 5,000 people when she was mayor (which she left in debt) and 18 months, or less than 2 years experience as governor of Alaska. Currently, the Obama-Biden ticket has over a decade more experience than the McCain-Palin ticket.
- Obama: 8 years Illinois state senate and 4 years US Senate, totaling 12 years
- Biden: 36 years US Senate
- McCain: 25 years US Senate
- Palin: 6 years mayor of Wasilla and under 2 years governor of Alaska, totaling 8 years
Conclusion
These are not the only issues with Palin, but a few. Other information can be researched. This article is to show just a few examples of Palin's inexperience and lack of judgment.
