"Run Forrest, Run!" is a line immediately identifiable by millions around the world as a line from the movie Forrest Gump. I can't tell you how many times I have heard it shouted at youth baseball games in the last ten years on the occasion when a less than stellar player hits a home run for the first time. Now, every time I turn on the news I want to shout "Stop Obama. Stop!" Forrest Gump and Barack Obama seem almost complete opposites to me, with the exception that both have big ears.
The most definitive trait of the Forrest Gump character was his straight forward simplicity. Forrest was so simple he wasn't capable of telling a half-truth or a lie. That was also what made him so different, so interesting and so appealing. Simplicity so unabashed that by the end of the movie it had become elegance.
Barack Obama is anything but simple and straightforward. Barack Obama can speak for an hour and say virtually nothing. Change is his overriding theme and I believe it. Every time he speaks something changes. After twenty months of listening to him, I still haven't heard what he has accomplished that makes him a viable presidential candidate. Barack is no Forrest Gump.
Ask yourself this question, "If Barack Obama were named Sam Jones, a white man from Kansas, would he be the Democratic nominee?" I don't think so and neither does Hillary Clinton. Joe Biden even called him unprepared to be President. What new or unique positions has he taken that any or all of the democrats candidates haven't run on before this election? This man may be elected President solely because he is African American. Amazing. This election will be fascinating as it unfolds.
Call me what I am, another simple person that really does beleive that life is like a box of chocolates, you just never know what you are going to get!
