Growing up I've always heard this line “God don't like ugly,” and up until now those words have never rung so true. Anyone who can be as sanctimonious to judge other's and solicit sex from the same people he helped put behind bars deserves what he gets. This man was married with children, all girls and has the audacity to throw his life away as well as hurt the one's he loves for a very expensive thrill.
His career and family sunk down the drain because he couldn't be honest or discreet enough to consider having a mistress instead. What could've possibly gone through this man's mind that caused him to be so careless and never think about the consequences it will soon entail? This only goes to prove that no matter how smart or accomplished you are as a politician you are not above the law and therefore your stupidity and misjudgment will soon surface and bite you in the rear.
As millionaire heir to a real estate fortune, he may not suffer at all financially, but I do hope this man learns the hard way that this does not remain unpunished. Already he is being ridiculed on late night television and all over the world, and this is just. Resigning and apologizing for his mistake does not make it up to those who voted for him, and being disbarred doesn't either. This man deserves to also be behind bars where he can really contemplate and come up with a better excuse for doing what he did, but there will never really be a good excuse for his family, especially his wife and daughters.
What puzzles me most is the amount of money he ditched out in order to get it. $5,500 to me equals two months of mortgage payments which will take me two months to actually bring home after taxes, and people like him can easily give it to someone for sex.
This man not only solicited and paid for sex, but also violated the Mann Act, the 1910 federal law that makes it a crime to take someone across state lines for immoral purposes; and illegally arranged cash transactions to conceal their purpose, yet law enforcement say these are charges that could be brought up against him. This statement only proves what I have known for a very long time growing up in the Bronx and that's that our law enforcement authorities suck. Having money, and being a high profiled individual can and always will get you off the hook and this policy and procedure blows.
Hopefully the citizens of NY will not have added disappointment by seeing this man get off because of his financial status, but it is simply something I am certain will not happen. Just like the Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky incident it will be constantly talked about, but that's just about it.
