Why Obama Should be Our Next President

Who will better serve the American people, McCain or Obama? Who is most like the average American, McCain or Obama? Who will send your child to a war that we never should have started, McCain or Obama? Exploring what the average American needs and wants in the next American president.

America is at a cross roads. We can look back and live in the past, or we can bravely forge ahead into a new future. Whoever becomes our next president will shape all of our lives for years to come. We must choose wisely, or we will pay the price, as we have for the last eight years. We simply cannot afford to elect a president who is not willing to take care of the needs of the American people.

The first thing the new president has to do is get the economy up and humming. Without a strong economy nothing else matters. America will never be a beacon of light for the rest of world if she is not financially strong. Money talks! Can John Mc Cain really get a troubled economy back to normal again? He is more worried about winning a war in Iraq than taking care of the pressing problems of the homeland. Where will the funds for an ongoing war in Iraq come from? John Mc Cain says he won't raise taxes, but we have all heard that before. Mc Cain does not know or care how young Americans are suffering, because he is of another generation and another time.

John Mc Cain was a young man in the 1960s, when life was almost idyllic in America. In fact there never was, or ever will be, a time such as the 60s again. Jobs were plentiful. With just a high school education one could easily land a good job and keep it. It was not necessary for both husband and wife to work just to “make it”. This was and still is John Mc Cain's world, not to mention he married a very, very wealthy woman. If you think John Mc Cain can truly understand the pain most Americans are in today, you are mistaken. He has never known the kind of hardship many Americans suffer when their jobs move to other countries. He does not know what it is like to have no money, not even money for food! He knows not the ongoing financial struggle more and more Americans are embroiled in everyday of their lives. Of course he was a prisoner of war, but even then, he was not treated as an ordinary prisoner of war. No, John Mc Cain has lived a life of privilege in the highest echelons of society his entire existence, he has no idea how an average American lives!

Then there is Barack Obama! I bet this guy knows what it is like to have no money for food! Nothing was just handed to this man, he worked hard for everything he got! Obama simply is the American dream personified! He makes everyone who is small and

unknown and insignificant feel important, as if one day, if they work hard, they too can make it big time, and even be the president of the United States of America!

Barack Obama started out with very little in life other than a dream, and he has made his dreams come true! That takes a very, very special kind of person. That kind of person is

good presidential material. He is the face of the new America. Untried, untested, but forging bravely ahead to prove to the entire world what he is made of, and isn't that what America really is all about? America was born with this kind of attitude, breaking away

from the norm, going out on a limb, being different!

Obama knows what America needs because he has lived through tough times himself. Mc Cain thinks he knows where the average American is coming from, although Mc Cain has never been anything but average. Has Mc Cain ever had to live in a cold house because he could not afford the heat bill? Has he ever written out a bad check for gas at the end of the week because he was broke and had to get to work?

All Mc Cain is offering us is four more tired years of George Bush, because in Mc Cain's insulated world, all is well! When was change ever initiated by complacency? If Mc Cain is elected, it will be business as usual on Capital Hill. Can we afford that? Many Americas are already living on the edge, wondering how they can afford to heat their homes this coming winter. Is John Mc Cain worried about that, or the war in Iraq?

Obama will go about things in a different way. He will sit down with the leaders of Iran, man to man, without pre- conditions, and relate to these people as one human being to another. After all, the way we are doing things now it not bringing world peace, so why not try something different? It is this very kind of thinking that made America what she is today. We threw out the old ways that no longer worked anymore, and we embraced change and new ideas.

We, the American people can make anything happen. It is time for new ideas, new directions and new leadership. It is time for Barack Obama to become our next president!
