Yes, Barack is the Media Favorite

(contd.)

From today's morning news, one of those channels that did not send a news anchorperson, I learned that one of the reasons so many people in Germany turned out to hear a man who could not speak their language was not altogether due to the fact that he was there. Actually, I believe this crowd would have shown up if I were the speaker. I could even get that many people to show up if I were the speaker, say on that mall where everyone likes to speak in Washington D.C.

Work with me here! Elton John and The Eagles are performing on that mall in Washington D C. For the sake of argument let's say that performance is today and it is a free concert. I'll let you decide which one plays first and which one plays last. I bet they will draw a crowd. Oh, during intermission I will be the guest speaker. See, I have a crowd gathered to hear me. Remember, you are working with me here. The crowd came to hear me… right! Elton John and The Eagles used me to draw a crowd! I feel abused.

Now some of you may see that the other way around; that I used them to draw the crowd. Guess what, I think you are right and I believe that is what Barack Obama did in Germany. Apparently, there were two popular bands playing and “some” of the people who were there may have come for the music. Actually, I do not know if Barack warmed up, or sandwiched himself between the two bands' performances. Does that really matter?

The real truth here is that Barack Obama did not really attract all of those people on his own. It is a bit disconcerting that none of the news media with him reported on the music part of the event. That came from one of those news channels that seem to have a conservative bias.

For some reason, those news media darlings who are not in the presence of the Senator from Illinois are not as much under his spell and can actually blurt out a few factual tidbits once in a while. Katie, where were you on this scoop? Of course I have to admit, even the pundit, Dick Morris, did not hone in on this one. Perhaps he was “Fleeced”?

This writer has no idea why Barack is so captivating. I have never met the man, but I do confess he gives a great speech. He gives me a good feeling when he speaks. However, when I examine what he just said, read the transcript of it, I see that he gave no specific details about what he will do to make America better. He gives absolutely no specifics, yet the media is under his spell. They do not challenge him and it baffles me.

The news really should not be how many people came to hear him speak. This man wants to be the leader of the free world, the President of The United States, Commander In Chief of the most powerful army on earth. The news should be in the details of what he says when he speaks. It is not!

I read some of the plans put forth by Hillary Clinton, John McCain and others who did not make it as far as those two in the primaries. Whether I agreed with either of them, or not, is irrelevant. At least I came away from my perusal of their plans with an idea what they planned to do. There was an action plan with some specifics spelled out. Of course, I did not hear them present the plans, so the trance of their voices did not captivate me. I was actually paying attention to the details.

In a few cases what I read did not make me feel so good. Perhaps that is why some of those other candidates did not make it to the finish line in the primaries. They were honest and probably realistic. Maybe America just wants to feel good?

Barack Obama sure makes you feel good when you hear him speak, but where is the beef? I keep waiting to hear that part and it never comes. What is the fascination with this man? I have no idea, but the news media certainly has fallen in love with him.

Maybe it is time for America to have a “feel good” President. Is that the answer to this? We will have no health care, we will pay $10.00 per gallon for gasoline, we will pay more and more in taxes, the national debt will continue to grow by trillions each year and terrorist attacks will be carried out on our soil regularly; but we will all feel good. So, thank you American News channel anchors for saving me from the truth. I feel so good!
