International No Ringtone Day

Plans are underway to introduce an International No Ringtone Day. The campaign has the backing of several Hollywood stars and is the brainchild of Wilma Proops.

Wilma Proops has called for a day, once a year, when people everywhere would put their mobile phones on silent and turn off their ringtones. Comical ringtones, character ringtones, animal noise ringtones, recorded voice ringtones, dramatic ringtones, favourite band and favourite artist ringtones, even Wilma's tasteful, floaty harp ringtone will be banned on these days.

Wilma Proop's Police and Dick Pringle's Money

Wilma has the backing of millionaire foody, Dick Pringle, and between them they are funding a force of 6000 that will roam Britain's streets telling people to turn off their ringtones and advise them that they are “not in the least bit funny”.

Mobile Phones to be thrown from Trains!

One or two of the International No Ringtone Day Force will ride in all designated Quiet Zone railway carriages throughout the UK on International No Ringtone Day. Any person who has a mobile phone on them which is heard to emit even the shortest “blip” ringtone will have their phone confiscated and chucked from the train.

Millionaires Queue to Donate

As soon as Wilma has the support and backing from millionaires in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, China and Russia she will be able to announce the first International No Ringtone Day. This should be very soon thanks to the assistance from Dick Pringle, playboy and raconteur.

Success to follow Failure

Many will still remember how Wilma failed in her attempt the have the phrase “I'm on the train” outlawed last year. Despite this, Wilma she remains optimistic. She told AndAnotherThing's Political Correspondent:

“I haven't received such tremendous support for one of my campaigns since my campaign to depose Liz and Phil and replace them with Posh and Becks”,

Wilma was speaking from her new Surrey mansion last night. She added

“Dick Pringle has been an inspiration to the campaign - his international clientele - including several A list Hollywood stars are queuing up with their cheque-books, determined to donate some of their hard earned cash to this magnificent scheme - some have even offered to be part of our little militias during the first International No Ringtone Day”

Unfortunately, before Wilma could name the Hollywood stars who would be policing the International No Ringtone Day, our interview with her was cut short. Our reporter was immediately ejected when his theme from Gladiator ringtone chimed. However, the AndAnotherThing team has other contacts inside Wilma's camp and will keep our readers up to date with news about International No Ringtone Day.

Hi, I want to joint the voluntary police force and stop people using their cell phones in any public place. If I joined, would I be able to wear a disguise?

Hi everyone,

Just to say that the boys are supporting Wilma's campaign. We are penning a track to dedicate to it and to Wilma herself and it will be on our next album. We took against mobile phones when Apple was woken by a non-welcome Nokia 85 a year ago. We'd all taken ages getting the baby off to sleep when it happened and we promised then to get involved with Wilma's admirable effort to have at least one day a year when mobiles are outlawed.
