The End of George W. Bush

As George W. Bush's term in office as the American president comes to an end, the public have chosen to humorously express their views on the politician.

Politics bore me. Hours of men in suits on a stage rambling about the state of the nation and whatnot. What interests me is the reaction of the people to current political issues.

Thankfully, as we near the end of the first decade of the new millennium; people have learned to view politicians and their ramblings with a certain amount of humor.

One politician in particular has been ridiculed by the public, not only in his home country, America, but across the world.

George W. Bush was sworn in as the American president on January 20, 2001. At noon of the 21 January 2009, Bush will be stepping down as president of the USA. His replacement has yet to be determined.

How will the world remember George W. Bush? Did his time in office result in a positive impact on the American economy, on the lives of the American people?

Let's take a look at some photos from protest marches, in the US and around the world, to determine the public opinion of Bush.

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…” And Bush will leave them hungry and dying in the gulf coast states.

The famous phrase, engraved on the Statue of Liberty, is from Emma Lazarus's poem "The Colossus", written in 1883. These words greeted early immigrants, welcoming them to the Americas, promising hope, freedom and comfort. The wearer of this shirt obviously feels that George Bush does not live by these words.

The only Bush I trust is my own

“It'll be like "Blam Blam! Pow pow! Blam blam! YaBoooosh! AAAARRRGGHHH! You got me!" ”

This poster depicts Bush playing with children's soldier figurines; expressing that the president didn't fully think through the current war in the East, and that his decisions regarding the war may have been childish, immature and rash.

Empty warhead found in White House

Will somebody please give Bush a blowjob so we can impeach him!

This protest poster uses a former president's infidelity to create a tongue-in-cheek opinion of the current president. Bill Clinton was impeached after having sexual relations with his secretary. Perhaps this woman feels the only way she'd see the back of Bush is if he were to follow suit.

Weapons of mass dysfunction

End Bush

Possibly a statement that many politicians will not understand, this sign cleverly uses HTML code to express the opinion that Bush's term in office must end.

I pee on bushes

Even dogs have a political opinion.

I really liked your piece: it's pithy, humorous, and topical.

But a talented writer like you should pay some attention to grammar. There are about four errors in here that detract from your credibility.

good one!! what we sow that we reap and the expression of the people about his works as a president and the sufferings of the people in his tenure proves this.

I think that your article was good but I don't agree with it. I am offended by those who doesn't stand by him. No one is perfect but that isn't what people say about the President. I won't go into it but I am allowed to feel the way that I do and I am sorry if I offend someone.

We do sometimes get offended if other people don't agree with us but everyone has a right to their own opinion. I didn't vote for Bush either time and I am glad to see him go. I hope Obama will get it right.

Hi, Catherine, I like the spirit of your beginning comments but feel that a number of these "protests" are tasteless. Check out my 3 Groundrules http://www.newsflavor.com/Opinions/Three-Ground-Rules-for-Americans-to-Play-by-in-Run-up-to-the-Election.284993 and give me your feedback. I prefer civility and dignity in our political discussions. Happy writing!

First off let me say I\'m not for this war, or any war for that matter. It definitely was not thought through enough, and I\'m talking from the very beginning before entering Afghanistan. But let me say this...SOMETHING needed to be done! SOMEONE needed to step forward and show there is a consequence for terrorist actions, and I\'m glad Bush was there to do it! My biggest regret is that in this new world of war; there is no conquest any more, only deaths & lifelong injuries. Why not make it worth the while? A hundred or so years ago if we were going to war with Iraq, we\'d march in, raise OUR flag and say (to steal a line from a great folk classic!) \"this land is OUR land; this land\'s NOT your land...\" Just think how low gas prices could be if only that were possible! That lady with the BJ sign is a moron. Clinton was not impeached. He should have been though, not for his extramarital affairs; but for continually lying about it. Wasting all that taxpayer money. Never mind the fact that both he and his wife are/were swindlers even before he was elected!

Excellent piece and I love the photographs. George W. Bush shall go down as the worst President of the United States. He shall richly deserve this honor. And I do mean rich.

A good summary.

Sometime I think that politics, not religion, is the opium of the masses. If you can't blame someone else, who ya-gona-blame?

I always think that the president should be drawn by national lottery and if your number is picked - you loose, your the president!

I don't trust Bush. I don't trust McCain. I don't trust Obama. I think the less people trust the government, and the more they rely on themselves, the better off we would all be. A healthy distrust of the government is a good thing, and unfortunately I see too many people wanting to trust, just because Obama is President-elect.
