The apartheid was mainly created to stop the blacks from gaining any power and to actually create racism in the country. The apartheid basically combined a bunch of laws or acts together that promoted separation between black and whites. After reading into an apartheid I discovered that the blacks were basically being treated by animals, being forced to live in their own SMALL black communities when they made up more that ¾ the population.
The apartheid was put into place by the Afrikaner Nationalist Party. Its goal was to maintain racial separation while maintaining white domination. It combined all the acts that were put into place into one book or list. This made Africa the first country to legalize racism by the color of ones skin.
The apartheid enforced racism in many ways. It forced blacks to live in “colored zones”, all their rights we designated to their homeland/town which included their right to vote. The black townships were racial ghettos that served as labor pools for whites in reality. Married couples had to gain permission from the government before living together, and having a relationship with a different race became a crime. Black's education was much worse that white children's. The African children where trained to do skilled labor and were not given the chance to have an elite job or profession. Africans were also forced to carry around a type of passport that pretty much told everything about them including the places they were allowed to travel to and what their work ethic was. These dompas became the most despised symbol of the apartheid. Blacks could not travel, write, and speak publicly unless the government allowed you to. As you can see this makes racism very easy to occur when you have laws that downgrade a specific group of people.
