Melamine Now in Candy & Cookies

It seems that an increasing number of products have been polluted with melamine.

According to a CNN report released on Monday, September 29, 2008, melamine contamination has hit a number of popular snack foods including Oreo cookies, M&Ms and Snickers bars after a report surfaced that “cast doubt” on their edibility.

Myanmar and the Philippines are the latest countries to add their names to the list of countries no longer importing products which are “Made in China”. According to Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Of course, it's better to have (solid) evidence rather than just speculate, but we will have to shift the burden of proof to them because our duty is to protect public health”.

Four deaths have been reported along with 54000 non-fatal casualties, but this figure is expected to be much higher.
