Iraq - To Stay or to Leave

The reasons why we should continue fighting in Iraq.

When asked the question should we pull our brave men and women fighting for our freedom in Iraq out most Americans would say yes, we should bring our troops to safety, but in reality if we left Iraq to fend for themselves all hell would break loose.

If we were to take all of the American military forces from Iraq we would quickly see the Iraqi government overthrown and a terrorist militant group take over. The new country of Iraq is to new and fragile for America to pack up and leave. If we were to abandon the new Iraqi government would quickly fall and the country of Iraq would be taken over by another dictatorship, or terrorist group.

You can only hope that the next president in office does not make the foolish decision of pulling out, if that was is the case America would be looked down upon in the future as a country that could not finish what they started. I believe we are making a difference in Iraq now and the situation is constantly improving.

If we were to leave Iraq the last defense of the Iraqi people would be the Kurds. The Kurds have been keeping the peace in northern Iraq since the beginning of the war. What you don't see in the news is the peace in some villages because of good Iraqi people not in the mood to be troubled again by violence, if we to pull out these innocent people would have to face it day after day; this is not what America stands for.

As a country of great wealth and fortune, it is our duty to look out for smaller and less fortunate countries, and by pulling out of Iraq America is not fulfilling its duty.

Yes there is a point, do you realize that if we just pack up and leave Iraq that the terrorist will over throw the new (good) govt. and then come after us. There will be more terrorist attacks like the one on 9-11 and do you really want that to happen? Yes, it would be nice for everyone to get to come home and all but its not whats best..

A funny thing happened when the Brits pulled out of Basra, reported incidents of violence dropped. The south of Iraq is effectively free of US or British troops and while not perfect it hasn't erupted into the nightmare that the popular wisdom you espouse describe. In fact the militias seem to have come to an accord amongst themselves.

War is like procreation. If you want to produce results you dont pull out after you start something. We did not enter this war to get our jollies off, we went in to preform a task.

Sorry for the above \"symbolism\" if anyone is offended. We would all love for peace to spawn out of the ground this very moment, but we also must think of ourselves as Citezens of Earth. The middle east is our neighbor.

Looking at war history, check out the effects of Vacuum Warfare. The idea behind this is that when in an area with many leadership divisions you have to maintain a equal or greater force than was there before while building a local presence up so that they are able to maintain the same level of power as was previous. In other words, if we pulled out and let them fend for themselves, every nation in the middle east would want to stake claim of that land errupting in a large geographical war (possibly expanding to continetal war or world war)

Frankly I think President Bush has accomplished something very daring and managed it better than what could be asked of anyone, this war was a very difficult undertaking and has been strategically planned to minimize all risks.

wow...theres so much things that are wrong about this article. The last paragraph is completely wrong because our country is in a huge dept. And are you the guys fighting the wars?...NO!...there are countless lives from the war and we don't even know what were chasing. Terrorism is a concept and not a thing. We can't chase it. so whoever made this articleis a total loser.

Don't worry about the next president pulling out. He will not. The whole thing about the war was to get every one to hate bush to get B Hussein Obama elected. There are hundreds of Democrat Spin doctors working on how to sell this to the american people. Heck they sold us a pig in a poke with Obama. They can sell anything.
