The effects of foreclosure to the foreclosed is devastating. I would know, As my family was just evicted two weeks ago for no legal reason really. It seems the economy has just gotten so bad any company, including the company that sold or leased your house to you, will do anything for more money. It may not be legal how they get it or how the cops force you out of your home, but there is hardly anything you can do to prevent it.
Everyone would think Fox 6 on Your Side would care and help, since President Bush was just on the news a few months ago, saying he wouldn’t allow the government to evict anyone, since these are hard times, yet over a thousand people have become homeless just because our government, companies, and president are “money hungry.” It is not fair the way any of the foreclosures happen, and the shouldn’t in the first place, but the government and president don’t seem to care as long as they get the money to fund a war that shouldn’t have gone on this long in the first place.
If anyone is close to being foreclosed on and is getting notes in his or her mail saying they are being evicted, even if it is not the legal documents required of the sheriff to dish out to evict a person, expect to be evicted anyway. The sheriff might not come on the date specified, but he will come. Expect to have your gates forced open, your door forced open, and inmates or homeless people coming in to take your stuff out any way they can.
If they run out of bags, they use your sheets. Make sure to gather up things most important to you quickly and grab up your food or they will come in, eat it, and throw the empty wrappers and cans on the floor. If a person asks them not too, they usually just reply that it isn’t the person’s house anymore and continue doing it anyway. Women better grab up their jewelry quick or it will turn up missing and jewelry boxes will be found empty and broke in half.
I don’t know how any other counties do it, but this is how Jefferson County conducts their evictions…harsh, rude, and uncaring. It seems the water and electric companies are in on this mess too, profiting from it. All anyone can do is take them to court if they can and try to get some money back from this unfair treatment. Someone should air this on television and show people the real truth, but if anyone tries to call any news networks for help in order to gain a little justice, the newscast just reply that they are “too busy to help.”
I wonder if their will ever be anyone truly caring that will want to help the evicted out, especially people evicted around Thanksgiving and Christmas, like my family was. I hope so, but for now all I can do is hope I get at least two gifts for Christmas and look around with my family for a place where we can be free of the Jefferson County authorities and be at peace.
