My husband (Roy) was driving home after a long day at work when he came over the Fuller Warren Bridge in Jacksonville, Florida and when he turned onto the 95 exit ramp, his truck flipped over on its side. It had been raining off and on all day and the roads were wet.
An officer called me to let me know that Roy was a bit scuffed up, but ok and that he was taking him to Shans hospital in Jacksonville to get checked out, then to jail for DUI. Roy is 45 years old and has degenerative Lumbar disease in his back and nerve damage in his legs. He still works to pay the bills and child support. His truck was being towed without me being given a chance to get it. Its our only means of suitable transportation at this time and the law is suppose to release it it its the only means of transportation.
I know that Roy had to be pretty shaken from the whole ordeal. Testing him with a sobriety test at that point was ridiculous and unfair. We live in Yulee, Florida about 12 miles from the Georgia line and about an hour from his work with little traffic. He has a study job and is a good man.
His truck is paid for, so I know he has to be pretty upset if it is Not in running condition. I had no way to get to the hospital to see him and I will have to find a ride to his court hearing tomorrow. Now I have to retain a DUI lawyer and post bond for him. I don't know how I am going to do this without help.
