Sniper Shooter Apologizes

A man calls the daughter of one of his victims to apologize for what he has done.

A man who has spent his past five years in prison and still remains in prison made a phone call to a relative of one of his victims.

Lee Boyd Malvo and partner John Allen Muhammad shot and killed 10 people and wounded three others over a three week period which began on October 2, 2002.

Malvo, using his one call from prison, calls a producer at ABC news. He asked the producer to connect him to Cheryll Witz. The producer then used three-way calling to connect the two.

Malvo was the man who killed her father, Jerry Taylor, five years ago. While Cheryll answered her cell phone, she was surprised to find out who was on the other end of the phone. It was Malvo. He said, “I need to apologize for what I've done to you and your family.” Cheryll Witz then filled up with tears as she heard the voice of the man who killed her own father.

The producer was not aware that such calls were violating the prison policy. The producer then stated that if she would have known it were prohibited she would have never the connected the two.
