Made in the U.S.A. appears to be a forgotten tag here in the United States. So often, you pick up items and look at the tag and they say they are made in China, or Singapore. In the 1980s every time you turned on the television, they had Public Service Announcement (PSA) about how important it was to by in the U.S.
With all the trouble we have had in the past with toys and other items made in China that don't meet U.S. guidelines and the risk we are putting ourselves, and our children at (such as lead paint. The U.S. Companies should take more pride in the label, “Made in the U.S.A.” and work to make it stand out here in the United States. Made in the U.S.A. in the televised PSAs to many people meant “quality workmanship”. I guess today that means that Made in China means, “made at cheap price”.
We had many Made in the U.S.A. PSA for fashion. It was these announcements that spoke of our patriotism and the belief we had in our country.
The Made in the U.S.A. tag also represented the U.S. worker. We were putting our people to work making quality items making quality pay. Countries with the best economy have a strong middle class who are able to pay for regular everyday items with no problems. On the other hand, a bunch of rich fat cats who own all the money because they want it, and will pay the price of the American people are only asking for a country mostly filled with poverty and dirty streets. That is the difference between “quality workmanship” and “made at a cheap price”.
We should put more pride in the Made in the U.S.A. label. This is our country and it says something about who we are as a people.
