World Trade Center

Workers of World Trade Center are Developing lung disorders.

“There should no longer be any doubt about the health effects of the World Trade Center . Our patients are sick." That's the statement Dr. Robin Herbert gives about the 70% of rescuers from the WTC incident who are experiencing minor to fatal lung disorders. The diseases started out being called “WTC cough” and have escalated to causes of concern among doctors.

These medical occurrences were found through testing during July 2002 and April 2004. Over 9,500 of the WTC rescuers were tested and 70% of them developed lung disorders while working during the incident. 1/3 of the people tested who hadn't already developed lung disorders are at risk of developing them in the near future.

Doctors at Mount Sinai Medical Center say most of the workers and volunteers will suffer from various side effects for the rest of their lives. Mayor Michael Bloomberg claims that there is no proof that the lung problems are directly tied to the toxic dust from the buildings. "I haven't seen the Mount Sinai study, but I don't believe that you can say specifically a particular problem came from this particular event." -Mayor Bloomberg.

Hilary Clinton has been looking into the medical issues and claims “Our government was not telling us the truth.” referring to Bloomberg's previous statement.
