Why is it that everyone seems surprised at the escalation in school violence?
Why is it that Europe and the rest of the world do not see the same statistics (in fact nowhere close at all...) of school violence that occurs in the USA?

Here is my theory; who do the children have as role models in this country? Their leaders?. These leaders are elected based on 'war experience'. The same criteria that is being used to say that McCain will be a better president because he is a 'war hero'.
Leaders in this country have been judged on how they perform in 'war time' or in their ability to declare war (like the C grade student we currently have in the White house).
How about a leaders ability to make peace, to hold out a hand in friendship ? Does that count for nothing?
Apprarently it does in the US of A.; and people are shocked that children are modeling such behaviour as a way of establishing their identity!!! Grow up....nothing will change unless we change the criteria that we use to elect our leaders so that we have better role models for growing adults....
