Britney at the VMAs.

I sat and watched a little of the VMA’s the other night and was pleasantly surprised to see how great Britney looked.I’ve never been that interested in Britney but since that hair shaving incident I have to say I’m addicted. I’ve been following her every move & can see why the media is too.

It was so sad to see her fall apart, publicly for all to see. The media was so busy slagging her off for losing custody of her children, they didn’t realise that Britney had feelings too.

Wouldn’t you fall apart if your kids were taken away from you?

The media didn’t leave her alone and everyday there was a story about her bad driving / feud with her mother or how she is neglecting her sons.

She had bad press constantly, there were stories of Britney being fat and bloated as she had put on some post pregnancy weight.

She had 2 children for goodness sake! Normal women do put weight on during pregnancy & struggle to lose it afterwards. I didn’t think she looked fat I thought she looked healthy, being too skinny looks awful.

Britney was defiantly going through a FIND ME phase which women know that we all go through, several times in our life. As things in our life changes and we struggle to adapt.

What about Britney’s fashion mistakes and hair style errors, how dare she!!!

Isn’t Britney human, how many times have we all wore something and wished we hadn’t?

I remember going out clubbing in a silky cream dress , I thought I looked hot!!! However looking at photographs later on, my brothers comment said it all :

“ Is that a nightdress you’ve got on?”

Mmmmm !

Well I have to say through out this past year, Britney has been through some difficult situations. Ranging from hosptial to no contact with her children and being in court several times.

Now she has some peace, extended visitation rights to her children, won three awards at the vma’s, she’s looking great plus she won a spectacular fan, ME !

Britney Spears: On the Mend?

Do you have an opinion on the Princess of Pop?

Last year was quite the year in Britney Spear's life. Love her or hate her you can't deny that you were intrigued…or disgusted…as she went further and further into the crazy tunnel. It's a sad day in America when a twenty-something woman shaves her head and it leads the news everywhere!

There are a couple of celebrity sites that I click on during my internet surfing, some of you might be reading them as well: TMZ and X17online. During the height of Britney's nonsense it was hard to pull up these gossip sites without seeing hour by hour updates on Britney's location, who she was with, if she was driving on the right side of the road…it was nuts! At any given minute there was a pack of twenty or so cameramen on her tail, from morning until night. That would be enough to drive anyone bonkers, never mind a celebrity falling from grace.

I'm not sure what moment of hers was the most shocking - when she shaved her head, when she lost custody, the horrible performance at the MTV award show, when the police were called to her house and she was strapped to a gurney and taken away. Sometimes I felt like a giddy gossip-hound as I logged onto my computer to see what level of bizarre she had reached - other times I just felt bad, and wondered how long her family would watch the decline before stepping in. I was waiting for someone to tell her "no!", but it never happened.

Her family did intervene, this past spring, and it seems like good things are starting to happen for her again. She's getting in shape, she has more time with her sons, and she seems to be working on music again. I'm pretty sure the pack of cameramen is still around her, but she gives them much less to work with now. I know a lot of people have an opinion on Britney Spears, but I, for one, hope she finds her way back to her career. How do you feel about Britney? Are you over her antics, or hoping she can change for good?

There's a rumor that she'll be appearing at the MTV awards again this year; if she does perform I have my fingers crossed for her!

The Issues Please

Maybe I'm alone here in my thinking and it would not be the first time if I am. Perhaps I just need to go to the beach for the day and forget about what is going on in the world around me, especially in politics. The issue with that is that I do not have a beach that is close, nor can I afford the gas to drive to one even if I had the day off and the world of politics is in my face all day.

I should try to ignore for a day or two all the childish games being played by the politicians. It is just that those childish games affect my daily life in a very negative way. I truly hope I am wrong but did I see on the news last night that congress is taking another break at the end of this week? Are they taking another break without resolving the issues that affect all of us? Someone please tell me I heard wrong and our congress is not going to take another break while we suffer. This is one of those times when I am happy to have someone point out a senior moment on my part. Go ahead and tell me that congress is not taking a break right now… someone… please?

Barack Obama and John McCain, two members of that congress who want to be President, sure seem to be silent with respect to solutions for America's issues. However, John McCain's campaign has released a video that likens Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Be honest, I bet you never thought you would see those four names in the same sentence. Oh, and Barack Obama's campaign answered the McCain campaign's immature video with one of its own, just as immature. Some things should not be dignified with a response. The McCain campaign's video was one of those things.

Trust me the Obama campaign breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the McCain campaign video. It gave them the opportunity to avoid addressing real issues. The two campaigns wasted time and money on video advertisements that do not address one issue affecting American's lives. Political advertisements that include Britney Spears and Paris Hilton cannot possible solve anything relevant to my life. I wish it were that easy.

I think it is time to put both Senators back to work in Washington D.C., or send them both home to look for gainful employment. Do we really need anyone in congress who has time to travel the world or produce childish videos that address nothing relevant?

How much time have those two actually spent in their Washington offices this year? How many votes have they missed? Why should we, the voters who will make one of them the President, believe either one of them is qualified for the Oval Office? What have they accomplished that qualifies them for the government housing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?

Work with me here; imagine that I am in a position to resolve an issue, but I have done address it. However, I want you to give me new job, with more pay, a nicer house in which to live and a really nice 747 in which to fly around. If you do that I will start resolving the issues I cannot seem to address now. Please, forget my track record.

I should point out here that my current employer expects me to actually come to work and do my job in a timely manner, with a reasonable degree of accuracy. He is so narrow-minded about that! In exchange for me actually doing my job he allows me to keep that job. If I stop doing my job, my employer is not going to consider me for a promotion, but he will make my talents available to the marketplace. Yes, the aforementioned narrow minded man will terminate my employment; go figure!

Mr. Obama and Mr. McCain have not been on the job much this year and neither can say they have done the job we pay them to do, yet they are they are campaigning to be promoted into a job that will be vacant the first of next year. I do not have a warm fuzzy feeling about promoting either one of them at this time. In fact I think it is time to make their respective talents available to the marketplace. We need to replace them, along with some of their colleagues. We should not promote either of them.

That means the vacancy in that funny shaped office down the street from the nation's Capitol Building may not be filled right away. You know what; that is okay with me. Is it time to actually give that job to someone who has performed well in another job? Should we perhaps look for someone who can point to past accomplishments and present a detailed action plan for today? We need the action today. John, Barack, Britney and Paris together in a video, is not magic for me. Let's have a competition for White House job, not a campaign. Let's make someone earn the title of President. What a concept!

Britney Spears: On the Mend and Looking Good

There were photo's published in the media this week (July 21st 2008) of pop star, Britney Spears attending a charity bash, hosted by The Mask star, Jim Carey and his partner, Jenny McCarthy. Sporting a Californian tan and a healthy glow, dressed in a hot black number, stilletos, and the trademark hair extensions, Britney honestly looked like a respectable young lady and a happiness beamed from her eyes. A far cry from the wild and crazy Britney that filled the tabloids earlier this year.

According to reports, the "new" Britney is all down to the watchful eye of her father. Jamie Spears is a former alcoholic and if he wasn't a positive influence over his daughter in her younger days,he certainly is now. After Britney's psychotic breakdown, Jamie took full control of her life, putting an end to the all night drug and booze benders, the erratic drive time cruises and keeping the "bad company" at a distance ( a restraining order is on her manager and she has supervised visits with her rumoured boyfriend, British photographer, Adnan Ghalib. This "tough love" regime has kept the pop princess away from trouble and negativity she was surrounded in, and although she hasn't regained custody of her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, she has won more visitation rights. Britney is also reported to be teaching children to dance at a Hollywood dance school.

I'm no big Britney fan, but watching a young girl, America's Pop Princess publicly self- destruct wasn't easy on the eye and it's nice to see her making progress in getting her life back together again. Whilst the media and public eagerly await her next studio comeback, I'm just happy to see her on the road to recovery. Her sons need a healthy and stable mother more than the fans need her music, but with her father guiding her it's possible she can do both.

Britney Spears Spent $61 Million in 2007

$61 million dollars. That's a lot of cash! What could Brittany have done with the money instead of late night Taco Bell, lattes, and an ill-fitting wardrobe?

Here are five suggestions:

The Federal Government has spent well over $200 million on Hurricane Katrina relief, mainly in Louisiana - Britney's home state. For a mere $61 million donation, I'm sure FEMA would've been happy to decorate every formaldehyde infested trailer with a Britney FatHead and include a free CD single of Toxic.

The Department of Energy is investing $60 million to develop solar power and I'm certain they would appreciate a contribution to their cause. We know Britney would agree, her latest CD was called “Blackout”. Obviously, she's concerned about the energy crisis. Obviously.

$61 million could pay for tinted glass, a great chauffeur, and driver education courses for celebrity Mom's. Britney could sit in the backseat with the kids on her lap and wallow in her own negligence without all those pesky paparazzi. It could also prevent the occasional fender-bender and keep our roads a safer place.

Panties. $61 million could buy a lot of them. Please.

Britney could have doubled the efforts of Eli Broad and Bill Gates to bump up education on the list of political issues for the 2008 presidential race. Clearly, Britney loves school.

Instead, we get to hear about important issues like someone's pastor making inflammatory comments. Thanks a lot, Britney. Thanks for nothin'.

Is it even worth it to mention how many starving children she could've fed? How she could've sent people to school, cared for our Veterans, financed mass transportation for a struggling city, saved a bunch of whales, provided stronger armor for our troops, or even donated her scraggly strands to Locks of Love? She could've chosen some cause, stuck with it, and really made a difference in this world.

Imagine all the power Britney had with money she threw down the drain. After all, isn't the true measure of wealth what one would be worth if she lost all her money? Right about now, when the cash is gone...so is Britney. It's about time she grew up, straightened out, and realized the impact she has on this world. If she concentrates hard enough, she just may do something good for this Earth.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears

The world's most famous pop phenomenon was born December 2, 1981 to Jamie and Lynne Spears. She is a multi-awarded gymnast before she ventured to her first love - music. She tried for the Mickey Mouse Club when she was 8yrs old but was turned down because of her age. She sent demo tapes to several record labels such as Sony and Mercury but was turned down. It was Jive Records who took a chance on her and signed her on 1998.

The rest is history as the cliché goes. But not in the case of Britney who is still creating history in whatever she does or wherever she goes. This pop icon may be in hiatus but the reports about her never ceases. As a matter of fact, the public clamors for her all the more.

Just who is Britney Spears? What makes her tick? Why does the public thirst for her?

These are but a few of the questions that baffle the minds. Britney seems to capture the public's admiration and undivided attention. It seems she could not do any wrong, in the eyes of her legions of die-hard fans worldwide.

What is the enigma behind this girl that keeps the public enthralled and mesmerized? It is hard to dissect someone as complicated as Britney. There are many reasons why a person would be attracted to her.

Her undeniable physical beauty is one. She is considered as one of the most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine. She is also one of the sexiest chosen by FHM and Maxim.

She is a home-grown woman with humble beginnings and working class roots. She is hard-working as evidenced by her many records at the height of her musical career. She is frank and honest. She doesn't beat around the bush. What you see is what you get - even if it could be unsavory sometimes. She exudes a very powerful presence. Her sex appeal is total and all-consuming.

Perhaps the most important clue to Britney's puzzling lasting appeal to the public is her inner beauty. She is the kind of woman who does not rely on physical looks to get by. What defines her is not her external beauty but strength of character. You know that there is more to her than good looks. You can sense it instantly the moment you lay eyes on her.

Sadly, the Britney we see today is a ghost of what she was years ago. But the potential is there. She did it before. There is no reason why she cannot do it again. Reinvention is her middle name. From school-girl Britney to mother Britney to bald Britney, there's no stopping this girl. All she has to do is pull her act together and the public will be behind her again. It is only a matter of time!

Miley Cyrus: Victim of a Photographer, or Sly Ratings Booster?

If you've seen the news lately, then you know how everyone is in a tizzy over a semi-nude photograph of 15-year old Miley Cyrus. Miley's claim to fame is a wholesome image perpetrated by the Disney Channel. Plus, she's the daughter of country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Parents are shocked to see the photo shoot, taken by Annie Liebovitz, displayed in the most recent Vanity Fair.

To that, I ask…WHY? Why are we so surprised?

A Child Star, Alone?

Miley was not alone on this photo shoot. As a former model and current photographer, I know how frequently parents are all over the set and can try to take over a photo shoot. Miley's parents, and Miley herself, are said to have approved the photo. Everyone commented on how beautiful the picture looked and now, it's a scandal.

Racy Photos on the Internet: Not Enough?

Miley has a few photos already circling the Internet, which show her to be slightly left of wholesome. Perhaps her candid snapshots, which were “leaked” to the Internet, were not gaining enough attention?

Obviously, the young Cyrus can safely damage her wholesome image without the assistance of a well-known photographer.

Ratings Booster?

Plenty of child stars have made a rocky transition into adulthood. For example, Britney Spears. In fact, this Miley scandal reminds me of when Britney suddenly had a new figure. Britney's ratings soared when she became a bit more bouncy on the upper torso. Parents, on the other hand, banned their children from attending Britney concerts and buying her CD's. Does that sound familiar to some of the news stories at this very moment? In fact, if you didn't know who Miley Cyrus was this morning, you certainly know who she is, now!

Annie Liebovitz: Pornographer?

Anyone who has studied Annie Liebovitz's photography knows that she poses celebrities in unique positions, often nude. Perhaps hiring Ms. Liebovitz was a bit premature for the young Cyrus's career? Additionally, Vanity Fair isn't exactly known for their wholesome farm scenes. They like to be on the cutting edge of controversy. Remember Demi Moore?

Are We too Prudish about Some Things and not Enough about Others?

This situation raises a few more questions about Americans and the contradictory morals we try to uphold.

I'm an American. I like art. There's a lot of art that contains nudity. Where do we draw the line between art and pornography? When does the human body, posed, become shameful? Only recently have we begun to put age limits on what we consider “obscene.”

Teachers have been fired for taking their students to the art museum and exposing children to nude statues or paintings. Yet, Victoria's Secret can prance nearly nude models across our television during Wheel of Fortune. Have you watched MTV, lately? There's a lot more showing on that channel than Miley Cyrus's bare back! Maybe it's time to choose our battles a bit more wisely when it comes to wholesome entertainment?

The Miley Cyrus photo is a big deal because we've made it a big deal. Personally, I think Cyrus has a bad case of Kool-aid mouth in Annie's photo, not to mention, others that have posed in the same manner. Sure, it's a beautiful photo, but…sorry, Ms. Liebovitz, it's not your best work. Although, it may become one of your most well known.

Britney, Brittany, Britney Spears

What can I say about Britney Spears that hasn't already been said on the web, magazines, television, etc.? Not much. When I first hear of Britney Spears, back when she was young and underdressed, I hate to say it but I despised her. My own daughter, named Brittany, also didn't like her. My daughter thought that she demoralized girls and women. My daughter never wanted to been seen just as a young woman but as a person as well. Yes beautiful but also, intelligent, funny and personable, not plastic.

I named my daughter Brittany because to me it sounded like a princess's name. My daughter Brittany was and still is my princess, even at age 21. Britney Spears on the other hand was raised to be a pop princess.

Not all of what has happened to Britney Spears is her fault, nor do I feel it is her parents fault. Yes, her mother was her manager and to me made some very bad judgment calls. Come on now, how many parents put their underage daughter in a school girl's uniform to parade around a camera seductively? Not many good parents. But again, I don't blame Britney's later hardships just on her parents. Media does have a lot to do with it. Living under a microscope, can any of us say we would survive? What if every move you made was taped or photographed. How good would you look?

Can you imagine what it must be like to have friends only because you are famous? People who want to be around you just because of what you can do for them. Like I said in the beginning of this, I used to despise Britney Spears. Now I kind of feel sorry for her. What kind of life has she lived so far? Money is not everything, although a lot of people might say it is. What about family, what about love, what about true friendships? That is what life is about.

Two girls, both with the same name, although spelled different. What would Britney Spears' life be like if she was just Brittany? Would she have gone to college? Would she have a happy and successful life? Would she be happily married with children? I think yes Britney Spears would be happy if she was just Brittany. I think when it comes down to it she would be very happy. I think Britney Spears just wants what the rest of us have. A loving family and true friends.

Why Moms Hate Britney Spears

If you type the phrase “Why we hate Britney Spears” into Google, 472,000 results are located on the web. That's a lot of people who feel the same way about her.

I actually feel sorry for her in that she suffers from mental illness. However, as a mother, the way she has treated her children, Sean Preston and Jayden, is truly unforgivable. To dig a little deeper, let's first look at her estimated annual income. According to an article from November 2007, published on the website CNNMoney.com, Spears earns approximately $737,000 per month. That equals $8.8 million per year!

Most mothers who are not celebrities do not earn that kind of income. You have to wonder how she can be so averse to being a mother when she has unlimited resources in which to make herself and her kids happy. Even if she decided to take several years off from her career, the income streams would still be flowing in from all directions. My guess is that she had children for reasons other than truly wanting to be a mother. Maybe she wanted to make Kevin Federline a more loyal boyfriend/father. Maybe she did it for publicity or maybe she didn't mean to get pregnant in the first place.

There are two main incidents and images that most mothers can't get out of their minds. The first one is a picture printed in the tabloids of Britney in a lavish backyard swimming pool standing on the side of the pool and looking out to the side. One of the children was in an inflatable tube and was floating in the shallow water. In the picture, no one was watching the kid. The child was just floating in the pool and it looked like he was in great danger.

The other incident was recorded in the shocking world-famous photo of baby Sean Preston sitting on Britney's lap while she was driving. For mothers everywhere, that was outrageous. We absolutely couldn't believe that she could think that the image was a cute picture or remotely funny.

The worst gossip of all was published on the respectable new website MSNBC.com on August 15, 2007. The story said, “When Britney is upset, she yells and screams at the boys and once told them, "You were both mistakes!" She's called them "burdens, a pain in the a-- and the reason (your) father left", claims the source.”

This is absolutely horrible behavior! No mother should ever treat her kids in the manner Britney acts towards her adorable little sons. Unless she miraculously starts to love these kids, they will grow up feeling abandoned by their mother. That's why moms hate Britney and can't get over it.

An American Tragedy or A Disgrace?

After seeing the recent cover of Rolling Stone magazine I realized that mankind, as we know it, is doomed. The main story was entitled "Britney Spears an American Tragedy." I thought to myself come again?

My first reaction was violent laughter. That was followed by a seething disgust. It was nothing personal toward Spears herself because clearly she has serious problems. But that is just the point. Most of her problems her own doing coupled with having gutless parents. Why do I say this?

To begin with let us assume that she has some internal struggle that complicates her judgment. Now I will explain to you that this all the more reason her parents should be ashamed of their handling of this girl. How is this?

I am Bi-Polar and believe me that complicates life more then you can imagine. However that is all the more reason to seek and accept help. My parents made sure I had help and support. In fact they insisted on it! Nonetheless they did not allow me to use my illness as an excuse to do wrong or stupid things. Like taking drugs and/or abuse alcohol for instance. These vices are not good for any one but especially people with mental or emotional problems. At least an average person can enjoy alcohol in moderation but for sufferers of a mental disorder this is not safe. Even more so if you are taking needed medication. And anyone who doesn't realize the link between parental foundations and to your view of those things in adulthood, is living in severe denial. I thank and owe my parents for being frank and honest with me. Also for them not allowing me to be places where drugs and excessive alcohol use was likely to be.

What do you think kids are doing at unsupervised parties or trips to Cancun? If you are on a diet do you eat your salad staring at a hot freshly delivered pizza? Or if you have an allergy to cats do you fill your house with cats? So why would you let your kids with adolescent and pre-adult curiosity and hormones be placed in the line of fire? If on the other hand you think that is normal then do not have the audacity to think any one should feel sorry for the permanent damage it causes. And the emotional baggage is permanent make no mistake about it.

So concrete was my parental training toward these harmful practices that as a musician adult I played in bars and restaurants and had no problem staying very far from alcohol abuse and completely avoided any drug use. Just as clear was there teaching of the proper view of sexual intimacy. There was no confusion and there wasn't any mixed feelings. Young people do not possess the ability to understand the emotional and mental responsibility that goes with sex. So young men and women have no business engaging in activity that will inevitably lead to sex.

I'm sure their are some readers thinking what a self righteous, old-fashioned jerk I must be. You are reasoning so many of us had sex as teens and we turned out to be fine. Of course you are completely ignoring the statistics and the facts. You overlook the scars and baggage you have carried with you into adulthood to the point you deny even having such lingering attachments. Nevertheless you keep telling yourself that immorality during youth has no negative and harmful bearing on life. Then your children will be like Spears and her sister for that matter. The research has been exhaustive and it always turns out the same data. Enjoying sex is something that only mature adults could possibly understand.

So shame on the Spears family. Everyone of them. You play with fire and you are going to get burned. This is no tragedy, this is a disgrace. She doesn't represent me or any one who is trying to do their best in life. They sought the lime light for their children and allowed them to "soak" up all the atmosphere it has to offer. And the two girls took on the "spoiled brat entitlement" attitude that is pervasive in society. And as much as I would not wish their troubles they are having on them or anyone else, they are simply reaping what they sowed. You plant corn seed and you are going to get corn.

Finally shame on the media for covering this garbage and a train wreck of a life. Who is she afterall? She is just a performer of a style of music. Her sister is just a child actress. Popular doesn't equal important. There are tens of thousands of young teen girls and women just like her and nobody cares about them. Many of them come from abusive families and broken families. Who is reaching out to them?

And what have the two Spears girls contributed to young girls and women around the globe? Absolutely nothing. They sure have taken their money though. People demand that athletes should be role models and yet these two attention starved girls have teens all over the world looking up to them. And the media is like "oh poor Britney." Why not tell their young fans the truth? Oh they are role models indeed. The same way Michael Vick is too young boys!

An American tragedy? Please don't insult America or any group of citizens like that. Hey I enjoy entertainers entertaining me but I am not going to feel sorry for the troubles they or any one for that matter heaps upon themselves.

When are the everyday people like myself going to stand up and say "enough already?" This isn't my soap box here, this is just one man saying "hey why is she so important? Her and her family did this to themselves. What about the hordes of other people who need help?"
