Republicans' Last Hope: The Libertarians?

Hey Republicans!

I'm sure you've probably heard, every major poll in the last month shows McCain trailing Obama by 5-10%. If this trend holds through the election, no amount of electoral college jiggering can give McCain a win.

Here's something you probably haven't heard. Those polls mostly exclude Bob Barr, the Libertarian Party candidate. In the polls that do include Bob Barr, he polls between 3 and 7 percent, apparently not enough to affect the outcome. BUT, if you add the republican and libertarian components of those polls together, they come to almost 50% of the vote, just a tad higher than the democrats.

Libertarians vote from deep conviction, and they know that a strong turnout in this election will make getting third party candidates on the ballot and in the debates next time much easier. Their numbers will only rise from here. They definitely won't be jumping ship to support either of the two major party candidates.

So I have questions for all you republicans. Did you really want McCain as your next president, or was he just the lesser of two evils? Does the republican party really represent your views any more, or are they just a bit better than the alternative?

Why not vote for Bob Barr instead? Here you have a candidate who wants to cut real amounts from federal spending (tens of percents, as opposed to fractions of a percent), who wants to give you back the civil liberties BOTH major parties have been stripping from you for decades, and who will really try to end our troops' involvement in from foreign wars, instead of creating commissions to study the possibility.

Would he be such a bad choice?

Even if Barr's not your cup of tea, a strong third party is still exactly what the US needs to start bringing our government in line with what our citizens really want! If McCain's a lost cause, why not put your vote where, at the very least, you'll make the electoral landscape much better for the next time around, and at best, you still have a small chance to defeat Obama?

And for you democrats still reading, I ask you the same questions I asked the republicans. Are you voting for your choice, or your only perceived alternative? Do you want to see real civil rights legislation, or only what passes for it in modern politics?

Think about it.

Is America an Empire?

Britian was called the world greatest empire, the had troops everywhere protecting their interests, waged war on any threats, and was a large consumer of resources . Let's look at America, we have troops in many places protecting our interests (oil in the middle east), we wage war on threats (Saddam Hussein) all though that is understandable, and we are the single largest consumer of resources. I think its clear the similarities Britain and America have but are we effectively and empire?

First the Resources. We aren't stopping at anything to provide power, no matter what it fuels. Britain got what it needed no matter what, they didn't even stop when they saw that still buying resources from Colonists was fueling a rebelion. Same with America, if we could just stop buying oil from the middle east we could cut off a big flow of money to terrorists but our oil is far to precious to do that. Also not as much a problem for the British but we are destroying our planet with our consumption of resources and we continue, just to power our precious nation, giving not a thought to the rest of the world.

Although it is understandable and has been done thorugh history, we continue to wage war on threats. It is not that big of a deal because it needed to be done but as soon as we see a threat and they dont cooperate we send out troops. Britain did the same thing like in America and India and Africa, that was too keep territory. America does it for self protection, which although it is a good reason, is a indication to bigger similarity. Everybody hates us. With a few exceptions, Britain and Ameica are widely hated because of how we are handling things. This wouldn't be as big of a deal if Britain had been a democracy, but it was an empire, so we are obviously doing something the same.

The Last and biggest reason is that America has troops spread over the world protecting out interests. In the middle east is the largest concentration of troops, and this is all about oil. If we let terrorist go freely, they will either attack our supplies of oil or somehow shut it off and if that happens it's the end of the world, at least thats what are actions say we think. Britain had troops in Africa, India and America all to protect their interests like territory, saltpeter and more territory.

If you look at the similarities it's pretty ahrd to deny that America isn't an Empire. Even if you can deny it you can't say we're not headed in that direction.

The terriorist are gone anyway. We did them a favor of killing them but now they want us to build them air feilds and give them millions of dollers.”

Joe Ragner said “ My family has not seen me in 4 ******* years. I have seen things a man should ever see. Ive seen my best freind died in my arms. I want to go home to atleast attend his funral. He was killed by a road side bomb.”

Sanchez Remeraz said “I have killed people. Do you know what u feels like after you kill someone. Taking someones life is a sin. So that means the goverment is a sin.
McCain Questions Obama's Motives

According to a report released by ABC News, Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is questioning Obama's decision to cancel a visit to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center where injured troops from Iraq and Afghanistan are housed. According to McCain, “If I had been told by the Pentagon that I couldn't visit those troops and I was there and wanted to be there, I guarantee you (that) there would have been a seismic event”. McCain is probably suggesting that because of Obama's inexperience, he listens and does whatever more senior officials tell him to do and that this isn't a sign of strong leadership. Furthermore, McCain said that “I know of no Pentagon regulation that would have prevented him from going there - without the media and the press and all the associated people. Nothing that I know of would have kept him from visiting those wounded troops”, suggesting in the strongest language that we've heard so far that Obama also has a reputation for pushing his own agenda and that, combined with periodic cowardliness, is a dangerous combination should Obama win in November.

McCain Slams Obama

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain has slammed presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama for not visiting troops injured in Iraq while in Germany. According to a statement issued by Der Spiegel, “Obama cancelled a planned short visit to the Rammstein and Landstuhl US military bases in the southwest German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The visits were planned for Friday”. According to a spokesman for the newspaper, “Barack Obama will not be coming to us. I don't know why”.

In response to the newspaper statement, Obama senior advisor Robert Gibbs released a statement that “During his trip as part of the CODEL to Afghanistan and Iraq, Sen. Obama visited the combat hospital in the Green Zone in Baghdad and a number of other visits with the troops. For the second part of his trip, the senator wanted to visit the men and women at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center to express his gratitude for their service and sacrifice. The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a US military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign”. The McCain camp hit back, saying that it's never “inappropriate” for a head of state to visit troops. If Obama says it's inappropriate to visit troops on a funded trip, then, when is it appropriate?

Obama's Delicate Diplomacy

According to a report released by CBS News, Obama plans to withdraw most US combat troops from Iraq by 2010 (i.e. within the first 16 months of him taking the oath of office) initially. Later, however, he changed course, saying that this would depend on conditions on the ground, and rival John McCain surely must have been paying attention.

According to Richard Haass, “What he has to do is pull off two difficult tricks. One is to be sympathetic to the troops there. At the same time, he's been critical of the policy. And secondly, he has to show some consistency with his policy. At the same time, he has to adapt to change. Pulling that off is the political challenge in the immediate time frame that he faces”. In other words, on this trip, Obama must now attempt what seems to be impossible. While he is visiting troops, he must show support as some of the soldiers support the war, but stay on course with his own message.

Initially, Obama said that he would withdraw all US combat troops within 16 months of taking the oath of office, but later he changed course by saying that he would “refine” his policies after talking to commanders on the ground. Obama is playing a dangerous game here. He is flip-flopping which is precisely what destroyed John Kerry in 2004. If Obama isn't careful, he may fall into the same trap.

Five Issues to Observe in the 2008 Presidential Race

Global warming:

The warming of the Earth due to higher concentrations of carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere is now accepted as scientific fact. Many scientists also believe that human activity since the industrial revolution involving the burning of vast quantities of fossil fuels, as well as deforestation and desertification caused by an expanding human population, is causing global warming. The effects of continued warming on the earth could be catastrophic, and each candidate has different opinions on how to deal with this threat.

Iraq:

With the war in Iraq now in its fifth year, and with over four thousand Americans killed and tens of thousands injured, not to mention potentially hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties, many Americans are growing tired of the war. Senator John McCain, the Republican nominee, supports an indefinite commitment of U.S. troops to Iraq. Senator Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, supports a timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops.

Iran:

Although both presidential candidates recognize that a nuclear-armed Iran would be a serious threat to peace in the Middle East, as well as in the world as a whole, they have different plans for dealing with Iran if elected. Senator Obama would attempt direct negotiation with Tehran before opting for military action. Senator McCain has been much more supportive of a direct military confrontation with Iran, siding with President Bush's strategy of unilateral sanctions and no diplomatic relations.

Healthcare:

Senator Barack Obama supports universal healthcare coverage for all Americans, although he would not make health insurance mandatory except for children. His plan includes a combination of private and public drug plans designed to give citizens a range of options to select the best-priced coverage. Senator McCain does not support a universal healthcare system. He opposes universal or mandatory healthcare coverage.

Immigration:

Senator Obama opposes deportation as a solution to the immigration problems in the United States. He has called proposals to deport 12 million illegal immigrants “ridiculous and impractical”. Senator McCain has repeatedly used the word “amnesty” to describe any policy that does not support removal of the 12 million illegal aliens in the United States. He has also supported the building of a fence along the Mexican border.

Our Troops Need Us Now

You know I get all these forwarded e mails all the time about supporting our troops, praying for our troops, etc. I've been praying for years now! I am all for supporting our troops but what about getting out and shouting to the powers that be to STOP THE WAR NOW! I think that is the best way to support our troops.....bring them home. We have been lied to by our government.....again. That fact must be accepted whether the Republicans or the former Bush supporters want to admit it or not. That includes all those who would dare to admit that they still support him. We were duped into supporting a war that was totally pointless and unnecessary. I said "no war" from the very beginning....I said that I was dead against any war in Iraq. A lot of people said the same thing, but nobody listened. Instead the guys on the hill and those who had their hands in the pockets of big oil made up all kinds of false intelligence (Intelligence, boy what an oxymoron that surely is) Supposed intelligence to prove to the American public that Iraq was a major threat to our very existence.

The truth is this: Our own leaders are a threat to our very existence! I am sorry and sad to say it, but it is the truth. I haven't picked up a sign in protest in many years. I am about to give away my age, but I haven't done that since the Vietnam war era. I never thought our country would be that stupid again.....but guess what? I was wrong. If John McCain gets elected I swear I will be convinced that the majority of voting Americans have an IQ of about 50. How ignorant does one have to be to understand that another G.W. is all that McCain is. I don't care if he was a POW, I don't care about his service record at all. I know that he is in favor of continuing the war at all costs. Well, we have heard that old saying all our lives "at all costs", but in this case the cost could be the demise of our country and the collapse of our economy in it's entirety. Hey, people, remember the Great Depression?

Remember the old adage "if we refuse to learn from the past we are condemned to repeat it". Wise up all you people our there who are afraid to vote for a black man or a white woman, all those who are afraid to vote for a man whose middle name is Hussein.....It's time to step up and admit the failures of this administration and the huge mistake in re-electing such an incompetent boob. I didn't vote for him so it's easy for me to say that! Go out there and vote for an end to the war and a return to our freedom in this country and the restoration of our constitutional rights as US citizens. I wonder if even half of the voting public really knows how many of our individual freedoms have been usurped since the institution of the Patriot Act? I doubt it. Well, I had better stop now before I have a total blow out. I get so angry when I think of all the lies...

Change: Are You Ready?

Barak Hussein Obama, junior Senator from Illinois is now the frontrunner in the race for the nomination for president by the Democratic Party. He has totally mesmerized the American population with his silver tongued oratory skills and promise of change in Washington. I ask you, America, are you ready for his change?

First let me digress and talk to the “change” Senator Obama would have you to believe he represents. He talks change on the unity in America with race being a non-issue. He promises change in the direction our foreign policy and when our troops will be home. He promises change in our healthcare system and making affordable insurance available to all. These and other issues he promises “change” but in what direction will these “changes” lead America?

Race and the non-issue; the change here that Barak Obama would lead you to believe is along the lines of, “can't we all just get along”! Nothing could be further from the truth! In recent weeks America has witnessed the racial hate and disloyal statements coming from the self-proclaimed spiritual mentor and pastor of Barak Obama, Jeremiah Wright. Barak Obama has spent the last 20+ years under the guidance of this pastor. The senator would like us to believe that he has never heard these racial statements from his pastor but eyewitnesses put him at the church when some of these statements were made. Even Obama's wife has let this pastor's teachings affect the way she see's her country! We all remember her statement of, “This is the first time in my adult life I have been proud of my country” don't we? How can you be proud of a country if every Sunday you have a spiritual leader screaming, “God damn America” in your face? To believe that Obama doesn't have the same views as his long time friend and pastor is ludicrous!

Senator Obama and many other freshman congressmen and women promised in 2006 that if the democrats got the majority in both houses they would bring our troops home. America gave them that majority but to this day they haven't made good on that promise! Why do you suppose that is so? The reason is simple; they knew it couldn't be done that easily when they were promising it and so that make what they promised a lie! Barak Obama is trying to woo America again with the same lie and will not be able to accomplish it again this time! As unpopular as the war is there are some things that can't be done and still be respected in the international community and leaving a country in political and economical shambles after you have taken them down is one of them! We, as a country, have to stay in Iraq as long as it takes to get this country stable and able to stand on its own. Until that time and even well after we will have a force in Iraq.

Health care in America; one of the most talked about and misspoken subjects in America today! Both democratic candidates for president would have you to believe that the health care industry in America is in sad disarray. It is not in sad disarray and furthermore it still remains one of the best in the world! The “changes” Senator Obama would try to put into place would do more to retard the progress of health care in America that it would to propel it into a brighter future. We have to face facts; heath care is a business. Hospitals, doctors, insurance companies and everything to do with health care must make a profit to stay in business! I know there are some non-profits out there but the one for profit are in the definite majority. The only way to do what Barak Obama or even Senator Clinton wants to do would be to socialize medicine. With socialized medicine the quality of healthcare goes south at an enormous rate of speed! The number of men and women studying to be doctors' declines as the salaries for health professionals decline and thus quality of care goes down the tubes as standards are lowered to allow more people to pursue the field. It creates a vicious cycle that ends with the total collapse of health care as we know it today!

Changes. Are we really willing to submit to these? Do we want to see if Obama is telling us the truth about his character and then find out when it is too late? Is the war in Iraq not worth the time it takes to make sure we aren't sucked back in at some other date and at a cost of many more lives? Do we as a country believe we really have a health care crisis or do we still have the best health care in the world? We are not in as bad of shape as Barak would have you believe or even the news media would have you to believe. These changes, in my opinion, would be to the detriment of America and not to her good!

Hillary, Please Don't Lie

Hillary, were they firing at you or not? How stupid do you think the American public is? Misspeaking is one thing, but plain outright lying is quite different. I have an aversion to those who have an aversion to telling the truth. Hillary Clinton's Bosnia lie

She paved the way with her statement made in a speech in Iowa:

"We used to say in the White House that if a place is too dangerous, too small or too poor send the First Lady."

Ask Sinbad for his comment on this and you hear “Say what? What kind of president would say, "hey, man, I can"t go "cause I might get shot so I"m going to send my wife...oh, and take a guitar player and a comedian with you?” This found in the Washingtonpost.com

I typed “Clintons in Bosnia” into my Google search engine and came up with 788,000 results. Her sham was supposed to be swallowed hook, line and sinker by the voters and that's all we are is “voters”, not people. She can not possibly respect us as her equals when she lies to us like this, and these articles that “popped up” are not glowing reports on what a good president Hillary would make, but countless reports on how she lied to us.

.

In her attempt to present herself as the candidate with the most “presidential training experience” she has gone too far. The trip was merely planned as an USO tour to boost the morale of American troops. Why else would she take Chelsea, her then 15 year old daughter, and two entertainers, Sinbad and Cheryl Crowe?

When questioned about the dangerousness of the situation, Sinbad stated “I think the only red phone moment was do we eat here or at the next place?”

What, no 3:00 a.m. phone call? If Hillary were president, and received a 3:00 a.m. phone call could we trust her judgment or her honesty to deal with it or relate the facts in a fair minded way?

I've read several autobiographies and educational books which list two authors. Hillary denied her “ghost writer”, Barbara Feinman Todd who worked diligently for 7 months on the book “It Takes a Village” a place on the cover of her book. But then maybe Ms. Todd should be grateful, as she will not be culpable should any of the content prove to be “misspeak”.

The Yahoo News describes Hillary's report as: "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."

Sinbad has been quoted by Clinton's campaign spokesman, Phil Singer as describing the Bosnia trip as “so tense. It was Crips and Bloods.” Sinbad explains that this was taken out of context and was a reference to the hate between the Bosnians and Serbs. After Sinbad stated that he never felt in danger, and did not recall being shot at, or ducking, Hillary dismissed him in one statement; “Sinbad is a comedian.”

Perhaps Hillary would like to take another trip to gain experience as a presidential hopeful. I am sure our troops in Iraq could use some company. Oh, and by the way, what is in Hillary's tax reports?
