NYC in Danger of Quake

As of October 13, 2008, recent New York City Quake activity has been reported multiple times in the NYC area. There are a fairly large amount of faults under New York City, but have been seen and known as unactive and do not pose a threat to the city. In this report, these recent news has made scientist study the many faults under NYC's earth. Scientist came up with this; NYC is in grave danger to a disasterous earthquake that could send all the city buildings down and cause more chaos than 9'11.

This has made some office buildings take more precautions and store water and food away in case of an emergency. This is for all buildings, structures, centers, ect. To take precautions and be safe about the situation. The best way for these buildings to be prepared for the wort is to receive some help, information, tips from the west coast side of the USA, where the massive San Andreas Fault lies running through and parrallel to the coast of California, Oregon, and Washington. These states have buildings prepared for earthquakes, as the buildings would not crumble as easily as the buildings of NYC. Some buildings should goas far as remodeling the buildings and putting extra protection on just to be on the safe side. After all, the expensive companies would have no problem preforming such a task as this. All New Yorkers in the NYC area should be prepared for the worst.

True or False: The (Dis) Advantage of Media Tools

Of all news sources available I prefer to watch Television. Not for the spectacle of all images flashing by, not for the painful reality of the human race, but for honest news, that's what I like. If you are reading a paper or tabloid you are in fact listening to how somebody else saw or experienced the news. With television you actually see the people and the emotions expressed on their faces. It is hard and sometimes not human to digitize the grief but this is what I hope we learn from being able to see how it really is and happened. Simply the truth.

Bad News

The downside of this source of news, television, is that in some countries they use it for propaganda, letting people belief that something happened and of course it didn't. Good examples of that are the way they let us -the viewers- see war. No casualties on our side, just on the other side, the enemy. Maybe this is why Madonna isn't watching television. But then again she reads and does she believes that?

Good News

The good thing about nowadays is that you have more than one source. If you read some news and you want to know more about it you can consider looking it up on the internet by using Google or other famous search engines. You can listen to a variety of radio stations; watch the news on different channels.

News happens 24 hours a day and the journalists from Reuter, CNN etc. are always 24/7 on top of the news at the worst spots in the world. But still, people like to have some good news or bad news being told in a disguise a way to bring such news is the way the women and men from Naked News are giving it. Another way to give news, although the news stays the same.

Make Up Your Own Mind

But still you must be careful what you are watching as it can make you depressed with all the war and misery going on. Luckily there is with bad news also good news. For example;. After an earthquake -12.000 deaths. Four days searching with teams working together from different countries they find a boy alive under the concrete. That to me is good news.

SCMP Issues & Implications: May 15, 2008

The international community has praised the Chinese government for their swift response to the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that rattled the region.

According to Chen Li, a senior fellow from the Brookings Institute, “The earthquake, in my view, urges the Chinese leadership to not be obsessed with China's international image and with the upcoming show of the Olympic Games, but to refocus on government accountability in dealing with all sorts of problems (that) our country faces”.

According to Steve Tsang of St. Anthony's College, Oxford University, “They (i.e. Chinese government officials) acted quickly and deployed what resources were at (on) hand without undue delay”.

According to Hu Xingdong, a professor of politics at the Beijing University of Technology, “Party leaders have learned to be more candid about bad news and have made remarkable progress in public relations”.

Implications/Analysis/Comments/Remarks

China, in the case of the earthquake, is not as bad as Myanmar, but they are still playing hide-and-seek as far as the true story of Tibet is concerned. So, in conclusion, the Chinese government has made progress in public relations, but whether or not that progress is “remarkable” or not is debatable

Gisborne City Hit by Quake

and could be felt as far away as Dunedin and in several places up the South Island and lower North Island. An eighty-year-old woman had a heart attack shortly after the earthquake hit and her family attribute her death to the stress caused by the earthquake. There have been several other minor incidences reported.

Gisborne City declared a state of civil emergency and prepared itself for the worst as the power went out and telecommunication services became overloaded. Three buildings collapsed in the city centre and Civil Defence says there is "major damage" to seven blocks of the central city. Police acted quickly and cordoned off the main centre before the looters and anarchists got hold of the city and made the situation worse than it was.

Thursday and Friday would have traditionally been the retailers' best shopping days of the year instead they will find themselves assessing the damage and speaking with their insurance companies and cleaners. Shops and retailers face major clean up costs with many broken windows, heaps of damaged stock. Although some people cannot go back into their homes for reasons of safety, they will have been duly housed at a nearby council motor camp until proper assessments have been made and the proper reports done. This may take some time but with Christmas around the corner, the generosity of New Zealanders will have to prevail and help a city in crisis.
